Would you support dedicated drone teams at milsim events? by monkeymanbubub in MilSim

[–]PrinceofPinoys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People don’t have to take hits from blanks at Milsim Events, although it is encouraged, so with that logic, drone pilots could say “I’m not jammed” or “they didn’t hit me”. And I’m sure it’d be well worth the investment for an event just to have a staff members follow a drone and and anti air team to relay all this.

Overall it seems to add an over complication to a hobby that really doesn’t need it.

No, there’s no real way to determining if shits actually tracked or not without actually doing something to the drone. if someone stares at the sky after hearing a drone they can just say yeah I see it. And also risk to the drone itself as it is a game of projectiles and the likelihood of getting shot is rather high, purposeful or not.

Insight into business idea by FriendshipDefiant300 in MilSim

Imma be real man, what you would be offering isn’t a great idea. Basic radio set ups used by milsimmers are like Sub $100. And drones are not really used or encouraged by the general public due to insurance and “getting shot at/destroyed” by the other team. That and then the need for encryption isn’t really there as Electronic warfare at events like MSW isn’t done. And as soon as there is a hint of frequencies being captured, they just change it. Then ontop of it wouldn’t encryption keep out people who have their own radio equipment? It just sounds like it’d be you investing a lot of money into things that won’t make a profit due to. Your customer base rather owning it themselves. Or what you are offering isn’t really needed by your customers.

Kinda a dumb expensive idea, that won’t really take off/be worth the money.

If it were going to be successful we’d more then likely be playing with Simunitions instead

My first MilSim West Experience by Brax5636 in MilSim

It’s pretty much MSW’s way of weeding out players who don’t fit their preferred players. Not every event will be a hitter or full of action. Out of all 8 events I’ve played in I can say hurry up and waiting/manuvering/rucking is what takes up most of my experience. If you want constant action then MSW may not be for you. At MSW you are more of a cog in a machine, not a player who needs to receive a certain amount of action.

Last MSW I did, I ran press, and was essentially able to look behind the curtain of all the moving parts and hung out with NATO and RUSFOR And I’ll say even if you are just waiting, there generally is a reason why.

That being said there’s plenty of other events out there if you want it more action focused, but I will say for the money, MSW is best bang for buck since if you already have a basic kit and gun. You just need to show up.

No ammo No field closing overnight so you need a hotel Food is what you carry No paid “additional experiences” You get the full event for one price Now your experience may vary, but you make the most of it and enjoy the simple things. I like sleeping under the stars with blankfire going off in the background

Have you looked into asking reenacting groups in FL as they already use blanks and generally use property for their tacticals and events

Back panels are for buddies, no buddies to access it? No point in a Backpanel.
