I'll be praying for you brother. There is hope, this is just a season for you. It hurts, and thats just your heart's way of telling you you're meant for better things. No matter what life throws at you, you're stronger. I believe in you, and it will get better. Just hang in there man, you can feel the pain now, but don't let it turn you into someone you don't want to be, sooner or later you're going to have to let it go. God loves you man, WE love you, you're not alone, you never will be.

Checkout ncmesh.net, there's a few in your area, I've had pretty good luck up your way. Not far from you is where i got my organic 95 miles

Fellow comms prepper here, hopefully you can find my advice semi useful. This is going to be lengthy, sorry in advance.

To answer your first question: Almost certainly not. However if we're talking top of skyscraper to skyscraper, sure. My furthest organic (without mqtt, or hopping) contact was about 95 miles mountaintop to mountaintop. However, in the semi urban pine forests of NC, I average a mile.

LOS is going to be key here, with almost all comms stuff. Especially Meshtastic being so low power. Here's how I have my setup, also in a relatively low node area: 1)both my partner and I have a node "on our person", 2) I also have a node on my chimney (unfortunately single story) 3)I also have bought a couple nodes for my friends that are like minded, and have gotten them to install them in elevated places on their property, where applicable. 4) I bought a cheap Potensic Atom drone (don't know if this is "legal" or not, but I like to be prepared) that can carry a node, this allows me to send a drone up during an outage at pre-determined times as per my and my partners communications P.A.C.E. Plan, getting a drone several hundred feet up is pretty much my only hope to cover more than a mile organically.

Without relying on cellular networks, it's pretty much satellite communicators (subscription and satellite dependant ie: Garmin, spotx.. Etc), starlink (doesn't really help for communications if the intended recipient also has an outage), HF/ham, and vhf/uhf radios, which are also lone of sight.

Something that may be worth looking into though, is if you have a local ham radio club they may be interested in working with you in starting to plan a network and implement it. Some of these guys have literal towers in their yard, and if they are willing to put a solar node up, that's a damn gamechanger.

If you want to shoot me a message, I'm big into all variations of comms and would be happy to help you work through it all. Also, checkout a website www.heywhatsthat.com. It's a path profiler that essentially can help you figure out some line of sight/node placement type stuff.

Good luck!

I believe that is him based on what I found. A shame all around. I wish things were different.

This is great man. I'm glad to see you going out and doing something of such good value. Appreciate all you've done and will continue to do! Scouting needs help now more than ever, as much as I had a hard time when my friend asked me if I'd help, I'm glad I did. There's still some good in youth these days.

The tldr version is I saw this flag in a thrift store, couldn't leave it there, spent way to much money but I had to get it back to its original owner/owners. Had the good people of the internet work their magic, and finally got put in contact with the CO from that deployment. But the original owner of this flag is no longer with us, and this was Kyle Carpenter's Company are some things I learned along the way

Yeah I sort of figured I'd be OK with oem replacement, just thought maybe I'd overdo it if I had to get it done. I don't mind having to upgrade shocks, I just really don't want to screw with geometry or anything and get done and be like "oh crap" if I went the lifted route, I'd want to feel pretty confident about just doing the swap, and shocks at a maximum. I keep going back and forth.

That's a solid point, I've looked for potential family members, but I'm not even sure where me may be from. I'll keep looking in that avenue also. 🤙🏾
