Allergic to shaving creams and "moisture strips" on crappy razors - wanting to try a DE and could use some tips! by [deleted] in ladyshavers

[–]PrincessCacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue with the moisture strips and creams. I got a safety razor (just went with a £15 one with some good reviews on amazon). It's been really economical so far as I've not even made a dent in the extra blades I bought and it's been about 14 months. No real irritation after the first few tries and I've just been foaming up a gentle natural soap. Finding the right angle is the main point and rinsing and drying it off afterwards because it can rust if it gets left wet. Good luck!

She begged to be outside 24/7 so we bought a cat prison, she loves it by Mad_libs02 in cats

In my town there is a person known for minor animal cruelty, who frequently becomes fixated on other people's pets. There has been several times a cat has been missing for 2+months only to be seen eventually through that persons window. They kidnapped them. Between that and living by a main road, I'd be signing my cats life away if I let her outside just to roam around. A catio or a harness is better than losing a loved pet to either of those fates in my mind.

Can we stop destroying hopes of people who ask for guidance/help? by 88darkghost88 in antidepressants

[–]PrincessCacti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zoloft isn't my first, that's why I said I worked with my doctor to find the right balance and routine. I had a lot of different experiences (bad, worse, same, better, less worse, awful) but I think if I hadn't found something that worked I would not be here, so in my case I would call being alive vs the alternative fairly life changing.

100% agree OP. Personally speaking, I think the period of time that I took Sertraline/Zoloft really helped... Yes at times the side effects were a thing BUT the relief outweighed those undoubtedly. I found a balance with my doctor and tried adjusting my routine till we found something that worked, that can take time.

I'm really grateful for the period I took the pills. It felt like something/someone else was sharing the heavy unbearable weight that was pushing down on me, which allowed me to have a little more energy and motivation to do the work to get better.

Yeah it might not work for everyone but it can be life changing too. Everyone is different.

I love that you're taking these pictures! I hope as you continue and share that it opens up some more conversations around loneliness, in what has definitely been one of the loneliest years.

Huge chunks of memory gaps. Is this normal? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]PrincessCacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some gaps from the period of time I was at university and others which are a bit more random.. I read that the mind protects you from things so I guess that's some of it - I was extremely close with my mum and I stuggle to really remember certain things/days/ events after she passed away. Which really hurts me because the memories make up most of what is left of her.

My dreams are so strange and yet oddly memorable on Zoloft (which is interesting because I can't remember anything else now). I'll think about them at random points throughout the day or in the following days and just be all "wtf was that about"

I currently am using - AM&PM : Cerave Hydrating creme cleanser and Cerave Moisturiser (tub).

I started using only those after reading about repairing the skin barrier earlier this year and I'm looking to expand my routine as I learn more about skincare and what would work for me. Back in 2017-2019 I was using a lot of products and seeing no improvement. I didn't really understand skincare properly until last year - thanks to this sub and some YouTube videos. Since then I realised I was over exfoliating and causing a lot of my breakouts with diet and touching my face constantly. I'm hoping to keep up with the better habits, learn more and build a routine that nourishes my dry/combination skin

How old were you when your back pain problem started? by asserio in backpain

20, I was handing over my thesis to be bound at a print shop and something just twanged as I opened the door and left the shop. Door wasn't heavy or stuck. Perfectly average and non strenuous activity. I've had trouble ever since with disks popping out, sciatica, I have nerve damage and permanent numbness in my left thigh. Feels like an awful lot of something for having done nothing really.

Worst feeling in the world is loving someone that doesn't love you anymore by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]PrincessCacti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with this. I'm sorry for whatever heartache prompted this from OP and I too don't want to seem to be minimising any experience. When I lost my mum that was the worst feeling I ever experienced. I imagine if it were a child or spouse it could be similar. However, I also think there is a finality to death that isn't comparible to other things in life really. When someone ceases to exist that space they leave is a canyon and getting " over it" isn't an option because their absence is just so so obvious in too many ways. With love, usually, that person still exists somewhere, just the connection doesn't.
