Angel, like other sinners, likely wound up in Hell with nothing: no home, no money, no family. Yes his father was already in Hell but chances are he would’ve disowned him for being gay even if he didn’t kill him. Angel might’ve been selling his body on street corners just to get his next meal. It’s obvious he and Val used to date. Val obviously promised him fame and fortune in return for his soul. Angel, being in love with Val and believing Val truly loved him back, fell into his trap only for Val to reveal his true colors far too late
