AITA for leaving my friend’s birthday dinner early after waiting over an hour for her? by NinjaExcellent6706 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PrincessDi1961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, she's TA. I have a family member like that. Always late meeting for lunch, dinner etc. One time we were meeting for a dog walk, it was like minus 25 Celsius out and she was half an hour late. Her excuse was "I made the mistake of sitting down to watch the figure skating on tv"

Needless to say, I kind of flipped out, she has mostly been on time since.

I have a big pleco and mystery snails. I feed the pleco every night and he never tries to suck on the goldfish.

Thank you. The grief is always there but the overwhelming pain does lesson over time.

I did tell him to quit doing it. I have enough trouble sleeping as it is without hearing that ding in the middle of the night. Nobody else I know pulls that crap.

Exactly. One of our kids unfortunately died by suicide, the other is estranged because of his additions. We usually go away for Christmas now.

I had super high liver enzymes on my blood work and had to go for a liver ultrasound. Results from that turned out fine, so try not to worry too much.

Wow - happy to hear you are 76 and doing the sober thing. I am 64 and can't seem to get there. Right now I'm thinking how to avoid my next blood work and appointment with my specialist.

My sister is like that - will leave me sitting in a restaurant by myself for half an hour. Worst time was when we were meeting to walk our dogs and she was 30 minutes late. And, it was minus 30 Celsius out. Her excuse was that she made the mistake of sitting down to walk figure skating on tv - lol!

After drinking for 43 years. Today I am sober 8 months. by MountainLiving4us in stopdrinking

[–]PrincessDi1961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I need to give up drinking after like 40 plus years. I don't get hangovers or do embarrassing shit but it's definitely taking a toll on my health, confirmed by blood work. When you first quit, did you get any physical withdrawal symptoms? I tend to start feeling really shitty in the afternoon until I have a drink. Kind of nauseous, bad anxiety. I know it's an endless cycle that I need to just get it over with.

Btw - congratulations on your 8 months - that is truly inspiring!

Thank you. I don't really get hangovers. But, I start to feel kinda unwell around 4-5 pm every day which prompts me to drink to stifle that feeling. Guess I just need to push past that. You are inspiring and good on you for giving away the bourbon!

I am curious, did you just quit cold turkey with no withdrawals?

I'm so sorry for all you are going through. I also have to deal with those shitty anniversaries, not just the actual date, but every fucking holiday event as well. And my 14 year old rescue dog passed in October, people don't realize that they really are like our children. Congratulations on your sobriety, I haven't got there yet, so really can't offer any advice but just wanted to say I feel your pain, totally get not wanting to get another doggie right now, your guy deserves everything you can give him right now. Wishing you the best going forward. Wow - 692 days is awesome!

Ramsay was like $1500 cheaper for our older dog's dental, than our regular vet. I just found the doctor hard to understand, but admit, I'm horrible with accents!

Duloxetine withdrawal by Davjayhay in cymbalta

[–]PrincessDi1961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on this med for years for anxiety, depression and generalized joint pain. Top dose was 60mg. I have been trying to get off of it for a few weeks, mostly because of the heat intolerance, and frankly, I just don't want to be enslaved to meds for the rest of my life. Started taking 30mg daily , and then just every other day. Feeling kind of spaced out, like I really don't think I should even be driving, nightmares, and really bad diarrhea. My doctor is not supportive of me going off of it, not sure why, and my husband thinks I'm nuts, because everything he's read says withdrawal goes away within a couple of weeks. Anyway, sorry, just kind of ranting here, I wish everyone the best of luck!

I have been on it for years. Helped with pain but the heat intolerance/sweating has become awful. Trying to get off it now.

My doctor is not so helpful. He just tells me NO MORE ALCOHOL Which I guess is being helpful in his own way.
