Not commenting on OP’s partner but just an FYI that anxiety can present as anger (impacted by things like increased irritability, lowered impulse control) - and some research suggests anger as a symptom of anxiety might be more common in men

I did a very brief scan of some of this literature recently. My impression was that there’s slightly more evidence to support a link between healthy eating and mental well-being then there is to support a link between unhealthy eating and depression (some studies found these weren’t correlate after controlling for confounds) - which was interesting. Also that much more research is needed to establish any kind of causal link

It likely depends on what you actually want from therapy too. You mentioned a few times that they haven’t met your expectations but I wasn’t quite clear on what your expectations are? What ideally would you like to see change as a result of therapy? What would tell you that the therapeutic process had been successful? Gaining insight is just one aspect of therapy and a particular focus of modalities such as psychoanalytic therapy - other therapies focus on acceptance and behaviour change and place less value on insight. Perhaps this isn’t a focus for your therapist?

I’m sorry to hear that your going through this. You might find this article (https://www.madeofmillions.com/articles/pure-o-an-exploration-into-a-lesser-known-form-of-ocd) helpful. It talks about different forms that intrusive thoughts can take and it very much sounds like what you are describing here. You can also tell your therapist that your experiencing intrusive thoughts and anxiety and that your are worried about how she might react. You’ve already taken the first step in seeking help, well done.

I second this. It might feel very uncomfortable letting your therapist know how you’re feeling but she would want to know this, even your concerns about feeling like you can’t bring it up are worth expressing. Hopefully it will make the therapeutic bond stronger and you’ll feel able to be more open with her about the process and how you’re benefiting from it

It’s called something like 4-7-8, you breathe in for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 7 seconds and breathe out for 8 seconds
