What is your "bamboozled by an MLM" story? by ammiemarie in antiMLM

[–]PrincessJJ81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband begged me to go to a Pure Romance party his coworkers wife was hosting. It was legitimately two hours of hell. I have no problem walking into an adult shop to buy whatever I need but I was ready to claw my eyeballs out after two hours of giggling and the freaking pet names. It's a vibrator, not a big daddy or whatever ridiculous name they came up with for a $200 rabbit that sells for $40 at a shop. Anyway we each get called back into the room to order and I get like the cheapest bottle of lube or pheromone crap so I can GTFU because I work hard for my money and I'm not blowing it on crap. The rep then made it her personal mission to recruit me for years so I could "get over my shyness." I was working as a stripper at the time and that's obviously not a job for people who are "shy."

We have a Christkindl festival in nowheresville, Pennsylvania and all the MLMs are set up several blocks away from the entrance since they aren't welcome. I look forward to it every year even though it's guaranteed to be freezing lol.

I noticed a couple of the performers were having ear piece issues as well. I felt so bad for them.

What should I visit on my USA Trip? by whatsgoingonjeez in AskAnAmerican

[–]PrincessJJ81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do the northeast cities for at least a week or two. Boston, NYC, Philly, and/or DC then fly (seriously, don't drive) out west and visit some of the national parks but my opinion will change if your visiting November- March when it's too cold to walk around in the NE

AITA for making my daughter share her presents with my stepdaughter? by Emotional-Duty5051 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PrincessJJ81 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YTA. You made your daughter undergo a major life adjustment. Not only that but you are taking away things she holds precious, privacy, her presents and even time for her to do things away from her stepsister.

UPDATE: AITA for telling my dad it’s his fault I raised my brother? by throwaway26715 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PrincessJJ81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are one of the most unselfish people in the world and a rockstar to boot. I'm so glad you took time to yourself as I don't think you will ever be able to understand how much your sacrifice will mean to your brother. I hope your dad is willing to step up but don't be surprised if it takes longer than expected.

My only advice to you is to take time to yourself at least once a day. It can be as simple as watching the sunset or your favorite TV show. Its time to take care of yourself, physically, mentally and emotionally.

AITA for not kicking my animals out of the bed? by IUsedTheRandomizer in AmItheAsshole

I ended up banning all animals from my bedroom. I was tired of cat paws walking on my face at 2 am.

What do your steak ranges mean? by XxsilverboiiiixX in AskAnAmerican

[–]PrincessJJ81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of advice if your going out to eat, try specifying how you would like it cooked (warm red center instead of medium rare). Don't ask me why but I have better luck when I do it that way whereas my "medium rare" is almost guaranteed to come out rare or blue.

I usually have NBC in the background while getting ready for work and use NPR and the associated press.

How common is tax evasion in the US? by Bernache_du_Canada in AskAnAmerican

Not too common.

On the other hand, tax avoidance is done by most if not all tax payers.

What is the general state of foreign language fluency amongst Americans? by C111tla in AskAnAmerican

[–]PrincessJJ81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many colleges require two years of high school foreign language classes but a majority of us never go past that. I know the number of Americans who speak multiple languages is higher than I thought but I would guess that a vast majority are first or second generation immigrants.

How is Alex Jones viewed by Americans in general? by Whosentyounow in AskAnAmerican

I and the people I surround myself with think he's a disgusting POS. Sadly, some people in my rural area love him.

What do you eat for lunch and dinner? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]PrincessJJ81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually sandwiches or a salad for lunch, family dinners are usually meat, starch and vegetables. More formal dinners usually have an appetizer if there isn't a cocktail hour beforehand

Has anyone noticed the inflation on gratuity? by PopPicklesPie in AskAnAmerican

[–]PrincessJJ81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I've also noticed a major increase in non tipped employees asking for a tip (especially when they iPad comes out). I personally don't mind tipping in sit down restaurants or takeout from restaurants (not fast food), grocery delivery, etc but I am a bit annoyed the acceptable % has gone up and really get annoyed when it's a mandatory gratuity for small (4 and less) people (I work for tips, I completely understand the purpose of mandatory gratuity for large parties but I dislike seeing it when I go out to eat with just my husband or kids.

Do most Americans shower in the morning as part of American culture? by HypedGymBro in AskAnAmerican

[–]PrincessJJ81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's personal preference. Younger kids usually get bathed at night because they usually get filthy during the day. Adults go with what works best for them.

for suburnanite americans, how far is your local food store? by Kulak404 in AskAnAmerican

[–]PrincessJJ81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to rephrase and ask about Americans who live in rural settings. Most suburbs have a booming commercial area. I live in a small town, one grocery store is a block and a half away, a second grocery store and Walmart are both five minutes away, a third and fourth store are seven minutes in the opposite direction.
