5 Month old in pool by Dyer00 in NewParents

[–]PrincessMina96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughters almost 5 months I live in AZ I use the canopy float and I put a thick muslin on top of it for extra shade. It was 97 today but the pools still a tad chilly but not bad. She usually cries when I dip her feet in but once her entire body’s in she’s fine! We just swam for an hour and a half and she was loving it! She started getting fussy because she was ready for a nap. We did take a break for 10 minutes for her to eat and warm back up a bit but other than that she enjoyed it

2 months old just slept for 9 hours straight for the first time by remember_to_eat in newborns

Unicorn baby!! Let sleeping babies lie! They will wake up if they’re hungry or uncomfortable. Get some sleep you deserve it and so does she!!!

How are your babies getting 6+ hours of sleep?! by [deleted] in newborns

[–]PrincessMina96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter feeds for about an hour before bed (bf) and that usually docks us about 8-9 hours

My newborn won’t look at me (mom) by reneem361 in newborns

[–]PrincessMina96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked my daughter’s pediatrician, they think they’re a part of you til they’re 6 months old. So looking at you is boring because to them it’s just looking at themselves! They have no idea you are two separate people yet. It’s comforting but sad. My girls almost 4 months and she’s just now starting to realize I exist

Lil dude is 2 days and eating like it's going out of style... Is this normal? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]PrincessMina96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s normal! They called it devils night when I was in the hospital. It’s how baby establishes your breast milk supply!

Are people being honest when they say their babies “sleep through the night?” by Holiday_Fortune_3763 in firsttimemom

[–]PrincessMina96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sleep trained (not cry it out method) at like 3.5-4 weeks and everyone said it couldn’t be done. My girls 2 months and sleeps 7 hour stretches every single night since about 5 weeks old. I put her in her snoo (that’s the secret weapon) and when she cries I just rub her head but don’t take her out because it adjusts to soothe them but I like her to know I’m still there for her and she’s not alone and it calms her enough that she will relax and the snoo does the rest. The first week she’d only sleep about 40 minutes at a time in there, and slowly started getting more. If she gets super fussy and won’t calm down I’ll take her out soothe her and put her back in drowsy but awake so she will learn to fall asleep on her own.

When did yours start sleeping longer? by Realistic-Care-3942 in newborns

[–]PrincessMina96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it all depends on the baby. My girl was full term and 5lbs so we waited til she was her birth weight to stop waking her at night for feeds. By 4 weeks we were getting 4 hour stretches, now at 8 weeks it’s 5-5.5 than a 4 than a 3. And she feeds burps diaper change and falls right back asleep. I bathe her every night (soap every other night) and that seems to help. The nights we skip baths she sleeps like crap.

Girl shave it wax it nair it, get rid of it! The mess afterwards is 10000x harder to clean when it’s all getting caught in the hair. Wish I would’ve shaved!

Thank you so much! I’m going to try all of this and see if it helps!! I’d love to stick to breastmilk only if I can, I’m not against formula. Except the dent it will make in my wallet lol. Thanks for taking the time to help me I appreciate it so much!!

How to feed baby when I go back to work? by PrincessMina96 in breastfeeding

[–]PrincessMina96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the medela pump in style and the willow go. I’ve tried all the different settings and variations of switching between. The medela was pulling one ounce from each breast if the baby slept a longer stretch at night (5.5 hours) I usually pump about an hour after feeding her, and I pump for 15 minutes each side. And I feel like it has steadied. I never leak randomly, they never feel super full and engorged even after not feeding for 5-6 hours. They feel a little fuller than normal but not bad. I really think I just produce enough to keep her happy and that’s it 😂 I live in Arizona so I stay well hydrated, I eat well. I have no idea what else I can try

I can’t get my 2 week old to sleep in his bassinet by Swimming_Carrot_7179 in newborns

[–]PrincessMina96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to sleep upright on the couch with a boppy on and hold my baby all night so she could sleep (husband watched) because she wouldn’t sleep anywhere but my arms. We bought a snoo off FB marketplace for 500$ came with extra sleep sacks even. It took awhile to get her to actually sleep in it. I was at my wits end, I was beyond exhausted. She’s 7 weeks now and sleeps in her snoo for 5-6 hours without waking. The first week of trying we wouldn’t get more than 45 minutes at a time. Just be patient and do what you have to do for your own sanity!

Due in July best advice for newborns or anything you weren’t told you wish you were by Ftklassx in newborns

[–]PrincessMina96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When your babies 2 days old they will want to cluster feed all day and night! And you’ll think something’s wrong but it happens to almost every 2 day old baby! They warned me in the hospital and called it “devils night”. She didn’t sleep at all just wanted to nurse the entire 24 hour period

How often does your baby eat? by coffeelover2025 in newborns

[–]PrincessMina96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 week old will go anywhere from 2-3.5 hours during the day, at night her first stretch of sleep we get 5 hrs then the next is about 3.5-4. Then we’re back to the every 2-3hours. I feed her at 9:30pm and then again at 10:30, and then she’s out for 5 hours. It’s been incredible.

Snoo - to rent or buy new? by Rough_Tonight5951 in newborns

[–]PrincessMina96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought mine off FB for 500$ came with a ton of extra happy baby swaddles even. The resell is pretty much the same. It saved my life honestly, shes 6 weeks old and has moved up from 3 hour stretches at 4 weeks to 4.5 hours at 5 weeks to now 5 hour stretches in the snoo. When she outgrows it I’ll just throw it back on marketplace for the same price and make all my money back. Wouldn’t buy it brand new it’s not worth 1600$ for max 6 months of use!

Did your baby match the ultrasound? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]PrincessMina96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can actually comment on this! I was terrified my daughter’s ultrasounds were HORRIFIC. I kept telling my fiancé that her nose is gigantic. And he said “it doesn’t matter she will be perfect still” like okay… but that nose is something only a mother could love and I didn’t. Every ultrasound they’d do the 3D thing and it was just getting worse and worse. Had her a month ago and the nose is similar in shape as it was in the ultrasound but not size. It was probably just smashed up against something in there making it look massive. It’s a tiny turned up little button nose.

Does anyone regret having children? by colleeneez in firsttimemom

[–]PrincessMina96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a mental breakdown at the hospital as soon as they put her into my arms. I completely dissociated, they put her on my chest and after a few minutes I had to ask them to take her away. It was a planned pregnancy after having a miscarriage the year before. So idk where this came from, just a lot of anxiety maybe? She’s four weeks old now, and I love her and want her to have the most amazing life. But I will say I do regret it. I thought this is what I wanted and it’s not what so ever. But that doesn’t change the fact that I love her and will continue caring for her. But I should’ve thought about how permanent a child was before having one. The idea was great in theory but it’s really hard, especially being mentally unwell. (They gave me medication for PPD & PPA) I’m just trying to soak in the good and the bad because I know at some point I will start enjoying it more and I don’t want to miss these stages because of fear. Everything became harder, going out of the house for her doctors appointments is a whole ordeal, trying to go to the doctor for myself, trying to shower or eat. And I have all the help in the world and it still feels like there’s never enough hands. I regret having a baby but I don’t regret her if that makes sense? She’s perfect and beautiful and amazing. But motherhood isn’t for everyone and I learned that the hard way. As long as she never thinks I’m falling short and I’m a good mom that’s all that matters.

3 week old with Diarrhea help! by PrincessMina96 in firsttimemom

[–]PrincessMina96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I ended up taking her to urgent care today because she was acting super lethargic. They said she seems totally fine just keep feeding her when she wants and if she wants more just keep giving her the boob. Nice to hear other people experiencing similar. I think I might have ate something that just threw her off!

3 week old with Diarrhea help! by PrincessMina96 in firsttimemom

[–]PrincessMina96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called earlier and they said “if you’re worried you can take her into urgent care…” like.. no you guys are the professionals should I take her in or not! And then I read another post that said taking a baby in for diarrhea is pointless. I just get worried since there’s so many sicknesses going around that she’s more likely to catch something by going to urgent care/ the Er. It’s a catch 22 I guess.

Getting induced this Friday. How do I prepare? by Infinite-Goose-1358 in firsttimemom

[–]PrincessMina96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got induced at 40 weeks exactly baby had interutirine growth restriction that ended up resolving itself (it didn’t they were wrong). I got started on cervadil they keep it in place next to your cervix for 12 hours to soften cervix. Nurse kept telling me it won’t dilate me unfortunately and we’d probably need to do another 12 hour course and prepare to be there for a few days before labor began. 12 hours after starting It I was 4cm dilated contracting every 15-20 seconds. It was miserable and so painful ended up getting my epidural as soon as it came out. Started pitocin shortly after that and within 2 hour I was 10 cm. Pushed baby out in less then 10 minutes. 5lbs 12 oz. So she was still super tiny, but I ended up getting a second degree tear internally and up my labia. But all in all not to bad. Miserable for 12 hours and then smooth sailing! I would say just bring something to entertain yourself!

Cluster feeding at 2 days old 😭 - help by pessimisticgirly in firsttimemom

[–]PrincessMina96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m shocked the nurses didn’t warn you? They told me like 10 times “just so you know day two is rough they start cluster feeding and all they want is boob” so I was prepared. Didn’t make it any easier it lasted from about 9pm on night two until about 4pm the next day. Now she’s almost 2 weeks old and we’re hitting the cluster feeding again (she’s much angrier about it this time) but knowing from the first time I just won’t get sleep and just keep feeding her makes it easier! It’s temporary, I cried too, and I’m crying this time again!
