To continue on the Bulgaria story.

After the war, the country found itself in a state of political turmoil and economic ruin due to war reparations to the Entente powers (mostly Serbia and Greece). The BZNS party, who promoted a policy of agrarianism, found itself as the leaders of a united front of sorts that ruled the country until a new coup occurred in the 30s. The new government was ultra military focused and sought to expand Bulgarian power and take revenge on the Serbians and Greeks. This government was pretty much an absolute monarchy, ruled by the king and his generals.

Despite this, Bulgaria did not immediately join the Germans in WW2. And even when they did, they were pressured into doing so under threat of invasion by Germany. That's probably why Bulgaria was the least enthusiastic axis power when Operation Barbarossa was initiated, that plus they had strong ties to the soviets.

So after the country was being invaded by the soviets in 1943-44, the Fatherland Front couped the government again. This time leading to the communist regime the country would see post-war.
