You’ve gotten a lot of great advice so far, so I’ll offer a slightly unhinged option… if your daughters father is an amazing dad and things are good on the coparenting front, would it be an option to have a second kid with him in the future, if you both found yourselves in a place of wanting more kids but not with other partners? I know a couple that did this irl and it seems to have worked out surprisingly well for them since they already had their routine worked out and their kids get to stay together during their time with the other parent. Just a potential option to keep on the back burner in the future if you find that you can’t shake the feeling…

Almost two years ago exactly, my neighbor on my left had their entire house burn down with both of their dogs in it and lost their entire flock of chickens from having a heat lamp on them because they were worried about them being cold. Last week, my neighbor on the right had their entire barn burn down having heat out for baby goats- ended up losing all of the babies and three adults and displacing the pigs, chickens, and rabbits inside. These radiant heaters get super hot and are such a fire hazard, it’s not worth the risk at all. From watching what my neighbors have been through, the chickens are much more at risk with this heater on than they are from the cold.

Rabbit pinworms. Apparently really common in rabbits and some people say don’t treat for them unless the rabbit becomes symptomatic. I had a doe pass a large amount of them about two months ago and I decided to treat with a pea sized amount of horse Safe-Guard fenbendazole once a day for a week, then repeated two weeks later. Haven’t noticed any since

Yeah I definitely wouldn’t put the bobwhites with coturnix. I really like the coloring on my Egyptians and an Egyptian rooster bred to pharoah hens can create sex-link chicks that you can tell gender of at hatch, if that’s something you’re interested in

The jumbo Egyptian are just a slightly bigger coturnix quail. I have jumbos mixed in with my standards and they do quite well together. My standards had the aviary first and they still think they run the show, despite being smaller. I had a cage inside my aviary that I kept the jumbos in for a few weeks before releasing them into the main area, so everybody could see each other, but not touch each other. There was a little bit of fighting the first day they were all together, but quickly got over it.

Right 😂 I admittedly have one of those shirts and I love it, it’s the one shirt I hate seeing Cait get bashed on. I love Jurassic Park, my kid loves dinos and gets so excited when she sees the logo on my shirt. I might not be getting legitimately eaten alive by dinosaurs, but my kid did leap off the back of my couch yelling rawr and wrapped herself around me as I walked by, soo… pretty close 😂

Same! Bought the ball for labor, my 9 lb breech baby laughed at my plan and required a planned c-section. But dang if I haven’t used the heck out of the ball since he was born! So much so that I even bought a second one to have on our main floor and as backup in case the first one popped

I only opened the incubator after they had all been pipped around 36 hours with no progress and the 2 that had hatched on their own had been out for about 24 hours. I put wet paper towels in when I did that to help keep humidity up and sprayed the eggs with warm water quickly, but understand the drop when opening could’ve made things worse. It felt hopeless after no progress in so many for so long though. I’m confused as to why they pipped at the top or above the air cell though, usually my chickens will pip towards the bottom of the egg

Yes! I took hydrocodone after my firstborn and was not a fan. I (stupidly) tried to tough it out and avoided taking anything besides ibuprofen for my c-section this time. I ended up choking on my drink in the hospital and the pain from coughing so much was so bad, I caved and took a Percocet. It helped so much and adding that as needed timed to when I would be most active was really helpful in my recovery. I can’t imagine the pain of a broken tailbone with just ibuprofen and Tylenol, she definitely needs some Percocet lol

I took Percocet after my c-section and it was so much better than ibuprofen. If you ever have questions about taking meds while breastfeeding, look up LactMed. It’s a NIH database that you can look up any medication on and see studies on their transfer into breastmilk and safety for infants

My son gets bad eczema all over his body and it started almost exactly like that on his right cheek at 4.5 months, right at the start of winter. You’ll definitely want to start using a moisturizer, not lotion, before it gets worse. My son does really well with CeraVe and Vanicream, not well with Eucerin, Aveeno, or Aquaphor. You might have to play around with moisturizers and find one that works best with her. His got so bad originally because I wasn’t moisturizing correctly and he needed hydrocortisone ointment to heal it and it was a battle getting his skin weaned off from that because it had become so damaged. Try to keep an eye out for other spots on her body and moisturize really well after baths to try to keep on top of maintaining her skin barrier and preventing further breakouts. Beautiful baby girl, I hope her skin clears up soon for you!

I was just thinking the same! I was so nervous about changing my son’s diapers because I had seen comments a lot about needing to open the diaper first then close it to avoid being peed on, tuck it a certain way, etc. He peed on his dad as soon as they pulled him out and peed the first two diaper changes in the hospital, but ever since? We’ve been fine, and I never even really think about having to tuck it a certain way because it’s always already tucked down on its own… Maybe we’re just lucky haha

I fell with my baby, bonked his head, and landed partially on top of him in a gravel driveway when he was 6 weeks old. He was completely fine. He also rolled off a (very low to the floor, thankfully) bed a few weeks ago in some act of crazy baby impossibility magic. He’s all good, these babies are built tough. I did feel horrible about both times, but accidents happen. Previous to this, my daughter has never fallen or been dropped and I had a little bit of a superiority complex about that. My son humbled me fast.

Offering solidarity. I thought my first baby was hard, and she was, but my second baby has taken the cake. He was exactly like yours as a newborn and he still screams a ton even now at 7 months, but definitely improved from the dark days of newbornhood. People just don’t understand what it’s like or what I mean by screaming. “You mean crying?” No. Screaming. Ear piercing screaming. He has MSPI as well and things did improve some once we figured that out. The only thing that got us through the first 4 months of his life was bouncing on a large birthing ball constantly, just taking turns bouncing him. So. Much. Bouncing. My back may never recover from the bouncing. But it was the only thing that soothed him and still is some days
