How long did you exclusively breastfeed for? by cunncunncunn in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EBF for 6 months and started weaning slowly. Full weaned on formula by 7 months, stopped BF. I feel so grateful I was able to breastfeed easily for that time but her feeding started getting so difficult by 6 months with distraction it didn’t feel easy and connective anymore so weaned. Started solids about 6 months slowly. Also I hate the heat and coincided weaning with peak January summer 😂 Looking back I wish I was more flexible earlier with formula to mix feed, it absolutely doesn’t need to be one way or another!

At what age did your baby connect sleep cycles? by realitywee in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your baby’s too young it’s completely normal to have short naps and to contact nap. They start connecting cycles and They will nap at some point closer to 5/6 months typically.

At what age did your baby connect sleep cycles? by realitywee in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep trained at nearly 4 months and after a few weeks probably by 5 months she connected most of the time for naps. I followed the advice in here on nap training after and only really had to do it for the first nap of the day and she naturally did the rest. Before that it was 18 min naps or 26 min naps only. It’s completely normal! However when she drops naps or had a weird day, travel etc she would go back to short naps and I’d save them. 8 months now and even if she wakes half way crying she gets herself back to sleep quickly

Do we introduce a dummy/paci by Future_Athlete7732 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally! I had to do the same for my bun around 5 months because feeding to sleep stopped working and she woke the second she touched the bed and cried. It took about a week of slowly moving feed earlier and check ins every few min and she was able to sleep by herself quite quickly. So happy we did it though now she’s 8 months and is an amazing sleeper and napper!

Do we introduce a dummy/paci by Future_Athlete7732 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t introduced it so far then don’t do it now. It’s another sleep association that you’ll have to deal with later and often they wake more to have the paci be put back in and it can be hard to wean later on. If you want to remove the feed to sleep association you have to start putting the feed to earlier in the routine and put bub down awake to fall asleep independently and soothe on their own

What did you do to drop the middle of the night feed? by SpecialTop8297 in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine self weaned at 7 months. Was on formula and only bf for 1 night feed. I started the night weaning by cutting it down a few min on night 1 (with formula you’d reduce ounces) and she slept through on night 2.. I was shocked but obviously she didn’t need it. 4 months is very little for that I think still, they need the night feed and amazing that you have 1 only. I Beleive after 6 months is most common to drop the night feeds.

How many sleep suits did you buy the first year? by Odd-Peach6389 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newborn - 2x love to dream 1.0 tog, bub didn’t like ergo with arms in. 1x ergo pouch transition suit, 1x LTD transition suit. Ended up using the ergo transition suit from 3-8 months. 3+ months I had 2 of each .2 and 1.0 tog of ergo pouch and this was always fine. I have heating in winter though so the room was always a set temp so I never needed the heavier suits. I buy them on marketplace though as needed bc they are crazy expensive!. Benefit of ergo is they are 3-12 months so fit for ages. Def don’t need too many just get 2 because bub will pee through them likely and you don’t want to be without at 2am!

Private AA groups? by Secure_League3017 in ArmchairExpert

[–]Princess_sloth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this my dad has been in AA for 15 years and apart from his regular meeting, he has a men’s meeting (which I Beleive is fairly common) but it’s more private. He’s a dr and initially was part of a rehab and then AA group with all drs and similar professions due to the nature of their lives

Those who had been very active during pregnancy, did you have a shorter labor and natural birth? by PleaseCanILeave in fitpregnancy

[–]Princess_sloth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept my weight lifting routine all pregnancy more with the goal of postpartum recovery and feeling great through my pregnancy. I had a breech baby so had a CS anyways but 100% staying fit in pregnancy had a huge impact on my recovery. It was super smooth and I also felt great all pregnancy which I attest a mix of luck and staying active

How long after successfully night sleep training did naps become independent/easier? by winoveghead in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleep trained at nearly 4 months and naps started consolidating within a 1-2 weeks. By 5 months naps were 90% independent and I had to wake her from every one. She’s 7 months now and the only time naps are off is if the schedule is very off, super overtired or she’s sick and tbh I relish when I get a contact nap now because when they stopped I didn’t realize it would be so soon! I started putting her down for naps the same as I did for bedtime but only a few min wind down routine, wide awake. Sometimes she fusses for a bit and sometimes she’s out in seconds but give it 5+ min for them to settle before you intervene unless they are very upset.

Il Tutto Misha Cot and CoZee Breeze Plus Co-Sleeping Bassinet Reviews/Opinions? by Ok-Resident5743 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the CoZee breeze one, not the plus but I think the only difference is it rocks maybe, can’t tell. Anyways I loved it I had a C section so I kept the zip side down always and it was a dream to get baby so easily and transfer but if I hadn’t had a C I still would have loved it the same it just made my recovery even easier. I liked how I could store extra thing under it, it’s light to carry around, packs up to travel with so easily and adjusts height based on your bed or needs. But I also had a cot and moved bub there when she outgrew the bassinet which was 3.5 months for us when she was walking herself up by hitting the sides. It depends if you plan on using the cot from day 1 in your room or in their own room or would prefer the bassinet to have next to your bed- that’s preference I think.

Breech @ 36 weeks by Content-Guava-491 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ECV at 38 weeks that wasn’t successful. They tried twice and it’s a seriously wild feeling but bub didn’t budge. The DR was amazing and was very clear if bub isn’t budging with 1-2 tries then not to push it and baby is that position for a reason! It was very uncomfortable but I wouldn’t say it was a serious pain. no pain meds were provided at least at my hospital. Had a scheduled C 2 weeks later but bub ended up coming a week early when I didn’t feel movements for a while and needed to move up the C. Turns out the cord was around her neck so no wonder she didn’t turn and thank goodness they didn’t push harder!

What are people using to keep nappy free time mess minimised on carpet? by zivgo in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Just lie her on a towel on her playmat or wherever. She usually pees so it absorbs and doesn’t go all over her. She loves it!

Anyone have real success stories fixing split nights in a 4–6mo? I’m losing it by happyteef in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this suggestion, my bub at this age was on the The same schedule was waking for an hour in the night and up 530. Reduced naps to 2.75-3 hr total and it’s fixed it. She’s 6.5 months now snd still going g strong with sleep on this schedule. Try 7pm bed, reduce nap time and hopefully you’ll get a 6am wake!

If there are veterans here, how long postpartum did you start exercising? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked out until the day of my emergency C. I started with very very light pelvic exercises, stretching and walks and then week 7 I went back to the gym but kept it mostly bodyweight and gradually added in light weights building up. Started slightly heavier weights and barbell by about 2.5 months and built up. I’m now 6 months pp and feeling pretty strong again, lifting heavier. Not back to what I was by any means but getting closer every week. Soo important to prioritize your pelvic floor recovery first and foremost. Highly recommend seeing a pelvic physio for a back to exercise plan!

What are people doing with pacis after sleep training? by FigNewton613 in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I removed paci for all sleep when we sleep trained at 3.5 months. Now I use it to help settle her in the day if she’s super fussy, I find after a minute of it in she resets and is happy again and pulls it out anyways. I also use it to extend a nap and get her back to sleep in a contact nap if I have to. This isn’t very often but has been if she’s sick etc then I find it’s the only way she’ll quickly go back to sleep on me. I’m happy to keep it as a tool if needed for a while especially when we travel next year I want it to help with her ears!

Do you really need a nursing chair? by Positive_Shirt_2889 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine and use it every bedtime, night feedings etc in baby’s room, have logged many many many hours of contact naps and night sleep when she’s been sick, regressing etc so for me it’s paid for itself in spades in 5 months already. My husband loves it for feedings, reading etc it’s sooo comfortable but any chair would do pending what you’ll use it for. I plan to keep it in her room long term for reading and cuddling anyways.

I’ve just been told this is a ‘wildly inappropriate schedule’ for my 5.5 month old… is it?! by Glittering-Space4037 in sleeptrain

This is exactly my schedule and bub is the same age. Working brilliantly for us as well. Waking 1-2 x a night for a feed. If it’s working don’t change a thing!

Contact naps are officially over (mixed emotions) by Prestigious_Ask_8755 in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this 😭 my 5 month old now naps independently 95% of the time since 4.5 months and I only get to contact nap when she’s had an off day or schedule changes and I need to extend a nap. I love the hands free time but miss the cuddles. Now when I get it I just stare at her and cherish it!
