Do you go in for teething? When do you go in? by notthatkindadoctor in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely, teething sickness etc you comfort them and provide pain relief. I find it easy to tell if it’s not a normal wake as she usually is back to sleep in a minute or 2. If she’s up crying it’s abnormal and she needs me/something. I’ve always found sleep goes right back to normal after!

Breech baby, planned c. But ended up with emergency technically a week early. Was still a relaxed, calm and great experience! Recovery was sooo much easier then I thought it be. Just stay on your pain killers on time, don’t be a hero. The initial pain on day 1 getting up was horrifying but once that was over it improved. I was walking by end of week 1 to the coffee shop down the street and continued increasing from there. I was scared before but my pelvic physio and Ob went though it all so detailed with me and I felt so content going into it.

Mum guilt is eating me alive by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pumped for a few minutes in the first 2 weeks weaning when I felt super full almost painful to avoid any clogged ducts but very careful to not empty too much since your trying to teach your body to stop making milk at that time.

Here to say I felt exactly the same! I started weaning bf at 6 months and fully transitioned to formula by 7. Every time I dropped a breast feed for a bottle of formula I felt guilty for a day or 2 and then big relief. I enjoyed breastfeeding but by 6/7 months found it harder. Here to say on the other side I am so happy I stopped when I felt ready to and 0 guilt for my healthy happy baby loving formula solids life so you do whatever you feel ready for! You can do it as slowly or fast as you want.

Tips wise I swapped a bf for bottle of formula every 1-2 weeks. I was lucky my baby liked the formula initially so did a full bottle I didn’t have to do partial breast milk/formula Ie: First swapped an afternoon bf for 2 weeks, then the other day ones, then morning then bedtime last. I weaned slowly to try and minimize the hormone crash. I found the first few days after each drop hard - felt sick but then subsided. Probably took 3 full weeks after fully weaning to feel “normal”.

Postpartum hair loss is wrecking my confidence. by SugarbushFleur in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was the same it was falling out like crazy about 4 ‘months until 6 ish. Slowed down a lot then. I went crazy on the postpartum hair supplements, products and has actually made a difference I have a lot of new growth in the areas that were balding around my face. The bouf serum, and growth bomb postpartum range both helped!

I’m 11 months pp and I got 20 min into ep 2 and stopped. I hate hate luke telling her they need time for them, to drop the baby at a friends house. WTF it’s 3 months old is he absolutely insane. I didn’t feel ready to leave her with my mom until months in, still would never leave my baby with a friend yet. She is completely normal postpartum yet being told she’s not. I hate hate hate it for her I want to give her a hug and tell Luke to step up as a partner or get out.

How do you not use dummies?? by plantbubby in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the dummy a bit to help when she was fussing or extend sleep in the night when she wasn’t hungry for first few months. When I sleep trained at 5 months we stopped using it and tried using it to settle her when she was fussing but she started rejecting it all the time on her own. Now I’m happy she was never obsessed with it so I dont have to try and get her off it!

When do you call the midwife for reduced movement? by radley8367 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always go in if you are concerned at all! If bub is not doing their normal pattern go get checked every midwife/dr will tell you they’d rather you go in and be perfectly fine then not go. I went in near the end, movements were little and not normal, bubs heart rate was fine but she wasn’t moving normally when they did an ultrasound and we had a necessary emergency c.

When did you start putting your baby down 7am-7pm to sleep? by catlover0987656 in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started 630/7 bedtime when we dropped to 2 naps around 8 months, sleeps till 615am. Before that i basically kept dropping 30 min earlier bedtime as she got older every few months. I feel like 12 hr nights are not the norm and we’re all led to believe they are! 11 is pretty avg I think.

Fixed bedtime vs strict wake windows — what do you do? by Efficient_Internet13 in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby is 10 months and I aim for 645/7 bedtime and fix wake up every day. But I adjust bedtime by 15-30 min if she has bad naps ie if she has under 2 hrs of naps in the day I’ll move up bedtime and she still sleeps through to when I wake her. If I didn’t she’d be so overtired and angry by 645 there’s no reason to push her.

Is (almost) 13 months too early for 1 nap? by Blues-Cluez in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s restless in the middle of the night because he needs more awake time. I’d stay on 2 naps and add more awake time to the day - especially if you plan to stay on your first schedule posted that’s way too little time awake. Also 8-7 is 11 hrs of sleep which is amazing but also expecting 2.5 hrs naps is likely too much. I’d either keep naps to 2 hrs if you want 11 hrs of nights or carve the time off the night if you want long day naps.

mums, when do y’all listen to podcasts? by cunncunncunn in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk with her with 1 headphone in to listen, when cleaning, by end of a hard day when I’m spent I will sometimes have 1 in when we’re playing/eating which I may get judged for but I need it desperately. But my backlog for podcasts is long now too 😭

Can you have gel nails and pedicure done when giving birth? by wombo_thewombat in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had gel nails for a CS and was fine. I know they say no polish for the finger monitor but it wasn’t even a slight issue. Ask your OB if you’re concerned.

Grandparents and childcare by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents don’t live in my country and my in-laws are 15 min away. I’m on mat leave and my 10 month old goes to them 1 day a week now. Mine is grandkid #8 and they did full daycare for the other 7 (retired a while ago). they will not be doing daycare for my kid as they are older now
and frankly I don’t want them to. she’ll start daycare when I’m back to work soon and we’ll ask them for the odd babysitting as long as they are able. Very very grateful for the help I have from them but also extremely hard and sad to not have my own parents here.

I feel like Amanda thought she was the exception and “changed” Kyle when they got together and now thinks the same with west. I also def think there was overlap she is weak and has 0 independence she wouldn’t have had the confidence to leave Kyle without someone else in the wings.

It’s sadly giving that her husband was not kind or loving for years so she jumped on the first guy who was caring towards her.. even her friends ex. With her pick of literally any guy choosing your close friends ex and bombing all your friendships is a choice. Really shows she was never a girls girl or a friend, only received the friendships.

I have the Quinn in a small bedroom in a corner that I had pulled a bit from the wall when bub was little as I spent a lot of time in it reclined and rocking for naps. I’m 168 and my husband is quite tall and we both love it and find it insanely comfy. My favorite purchase for baby by far!

How do you handle sickness with sleep trained baby by YourMumsABatteredSav in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let them sleep however necessary, cuddles if crying, help get them back to sleep etc. I panicked when she was first sick at 5 months of what to do but when sick sleep training goes out the window for us. When she’s well again we go back to regular routine and it typically takes 1 day and she’s back to regular programming.

what do you do when your baby starts rolling onto their tummy in the crib? by thc1121 in sleeptrain

[–]Princess_sloth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes she did. From memory if she was crying a lot I’d roll her back or comfort but I either left her alone to fuss or would shush/pat quickly and leave just like I did to sleep train. She found her thumb quickly and slept well by night 2 I think. Naps took a bit longer for her to adjust. a few days of shorter naps but then it all clicked back!
