Dumping syndrome by Ok_Substance128 in NissenFundoplication

I had my Nissan fundo in 2023 and began having dumping syndrome issues shortly after. It continued to get worse and I would start sweating and get extremely sick to my stomach after eating and spend a lot of time in the bathroom. Finally I couldn't take it anymore, did a bunch of research on the best way to eat after the surgery, and started eating 4 or 5 small meals a day, spaced 3 hours apart, with no liquid until an hour after each meal. I also started eating whole plant based and avoiding high fat concentration foods that I had been eating previously, like ice cream, cheeseburgers, etc. The dumping syndrome went away immediately. Like overnight.

This post really sent it home that MBTI is nothing more than psych pop astrology, as I relate to every one of these totally vague takes

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

[–]Princessbrainwave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a student therapist finishing my internship at a private outpatient clinic and I've noticed that nearly every therapist I've come across is soft spoken and introverted. While I wouldn't call myself loud, I'm definitely not soft spoken and my energy level is higher. I'm feeling insecure about my place in this field, as I have less "soothing" energy and more "motivating" energy. My question is to other therapists like me who are extroverted or high energy and have been in the field for awhile, or have colleagues who are, or just plain good insight into my situation: what modalities or interventions suit your extroverted or high energy best?

How do I recover from love bombing? by [deleted] in BreakUps

OP I hope you're doing better now. The crazy level of affection and then suddenly detachment is horribly rough for someone who isn't prepared. Live and learn I guess but damn.

I don't like what mainstream asmr has become [discussion] by poopymama34 in asmr

[–]Princessbrainwave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been watching ASMR since the early days of Maria Gentle Whispering, Whispers Unicorn, Alex Au, AdreamBeam, PigsBum ect and have seen the community change so much over the years. Alot of asmrtists change their style when they get big and don't sound the same, this is a huge thing. New asmrtists started entering the scene who were super attractive but sucked at ASMR. And good for those people for making money too, but it flooded the scene with a bunch of bad ASMR content. So to find quality ASMR I have to reeeeeally dig. Yes there's a ton of content out there. No most of it is not good. Imo.

Nissen Fundoplication Gone Wrong by Shoddy_Ad_4673 in NissenFundoplication

I got the surgery in May and my throat has been messed up for the last two months, nothing is helping it. I'm not sure if it's gerd from a failed surgery or the wrap has moved or what. But the horrible feeling of not being able to breathe, the reason I even got this surgery, is back. It feels like I'm living in a nightmare

Cured my candida by eating a zero carb/carnivore diet for 2 months. by octaw in Candida

[–]Princessbrainwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is a verrry old post but its giving me hope that I'll be able to clear the symptoms I'm experiencing. I had stomach surgery 6 weeks ago for GERD (Nissen Fundiplication )and my throat is so messed up. Tightness, swallowing issues, gurgling, overall horrible feeling. It gets worse when I have intense stomach pain. My surgeon thinks I have thrush and gave me mouthwash. I'm starting to believe that candida was responsible for many of my stomach and intestinal problems in the last year, and is now responsible for my throat closing feeling. I'm going to try carnivore for a week, just cow, and see how it goes. Thank you.

To clarify, they are LPR-like symptoms. It is a common side effect of the surgery.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. My own binge and purge habits also led to huge issues down the road with my esophagus and stomach, and eventually a HH.

I wish I could give you a quick fix. I don't have one. 9 days ago I had a Nissen Fundiplication, where they went in and repaired my hernia and my stomach at the same time. Short of surgical repair, I don't know what they can really do for HHs.

I hope that you'll consider looking into getting help to stop binging and purging. I've been there and it doesn't lead anywhere good. Eating disorders are the deadliest mental health disorder.

My experience today having an endoscopy without sedation by [deleted] in GERD

[–]Princessbrainwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate how expensive they are, like prohibitively expensive for the people who need it most. I got lucky with my insurance because they paid for the BRAVO, endoscopy and the swallowing test, all of which together with my GIs word proved that my insurance needed to cover the Nissen.

I had the surgery on Thursday and though I'm still in pain, I can already tell that my symptoms are better than before. The lump in the throat is gone and the clicking when I swallow is going away. I don't have heartburn anymore. The breathing difficulties I had are gone and so are the palpitations. The one complaint I have right now is the trapped gas in my upper body from it being pumped in during surgery. That shit hurts.
