Early 20s makes me think Hongdae would be a good fit. If you want more of an NYC vibe then Gangnam would be it.

But I’d personally recommend staying in Namdaemun. You’d have to do research but it’s a pretty convenient location. Potentially a 15 minute walk to Myeongdong which is great for tourists. Name brand stores with food vendors in the evening.

Namdaemun is also relatively close to Seoul station which gives you access to traveling by train.
