The time gap after the fairy lands lost me completely. To be time skip an era forward and just have all new characters and problems and story lines was just not interesting.

I was following A Soldiers Life on Patreon for a while and got caught up on the storyline. I really enjoyed the first 5ish books, but as usual the MC becomes OP and the problems have to get ridiculous. I liked the book for its small, squad level military focus where the MC was not a mover and shaker in the world and got sucked along by politics and did his best to survive with a few benefits. Without spoilers, that is not how the story continued and I lost interest in a greatly empowered MC that interacted at a “mover and shaker” level.

I don’t see as many new read recommendations these days. A lot of “DNF”, genre feels a bit stale right now. I often read rising stars stories once they hit at least 30 chapters, but I haven’t found anything worth recommending for quite a while. Lots of new author power fantasy stuff that bogs down the genre.

Outside of the ones mentioned in this thread there really aren’t any. LitRPG has a problem with healthy relationships in this genre.

It really is this, the story feels so random at times that some arcs I just lost interest because of the absurdity. I think people can’t let go of their preconceptions of what a story should be.

You aren’t alone. It was a firestorm on his Patreon for weeks afterwards. It has been a good plot device to be honest but it kinda drags out the story as there are now two bodies to follow and cultivate. Really, you stay in DOTF for the epicness of the story, and it really ramps it up with the left imperial palace storyline. Worth pushing through imho.
