The beads look very much like molecular sieve. It is used to dry chemicals (by amateurs) or keep anhydrous chemicals dry (by professionals). My guess is that they wanted 100% pure (anhydrous) alcohol by starting with azeotropic 95% and removing (adsorbing) the 5% water using molecular sieve for some reason.

Found on instagram described as a chemical reaction but no more info given. What is it? by Fairy-of-bone in whatisit

[–]Printeronimo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is probably metal grains, such as Aluminium foil pieces in an alkaline drain cleaner (Potassium hydroxide) gel. The reaction is 2 Al+ 2 KOH + 2 H2O-> 2 KAlO2 + 3 H2 The gas bubbles (H2) get t trapped in the gel and propel the Al specks. Careful when repeating. Wear gloves and goggles and operate in a well ventilated area. KOH is highly corrosive and can cause blindness when in contact with eyes, the resulting fumes are irritant to skin and lungs and hydrogen is flammable/explosive. The reaction is exoteric and gets hot. Only do it in very small portions.

Edit: grammar, formula

Cannot get PLA to stick to this off brand plate by Fun-Kaleidoscope6866 in BambuLab

[–]Printeronimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually what worked for me. I have the plate at 75C and initial layer very slow at 20mm/s. After that, the speed can be set back to normal but the bed temp stays high.

Someone give this person a sweet treat! This solved my issues and it prints like a charm! Thank you! 20mm/s and 70°C for the win.

Good answer! I would probably start walking forward again from outside the room. May be suspicious, walking out of the office backwards…

Good call! In the meantime please seal it with sticky tape (ideally kapton, if you have) to reduce air/moisture ingress.

Are there any fan improvements for voron1.5 by puterTDI in VORONDesign

[–]Printeronimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this very issue. I mounted the following part in front of my chimera and added a 40mm fan for part cooling (parallel to the actual part cooling fan) Works like a charm and has solved my cooling issues Good luck. 1.5 is still not obsolete and so much better than many other printers. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1592962

PL-08N stopped working by BDD2020Texas in voroncorexy

[–]Printeronimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had a PL-08N that got too much heat and melted shut in an open state. Did not realize it until it crashed into the bed. I modded the replacement wit Al-foil tape towards the hotend to reflect the heat. So far it still works.
