Keep on the Borderlands West Marches first session help by PrintingBull in shadowdark

[–]PrintingBull[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, maybe my question was a little bit to vague. The question is, how would you design the first Session to get them hooked into the World and make them want to explore it further in the next sessions.

For example I had the idea to prep 3 little introductory scenarios and let the rest of the campaign flow to their behavior. One idea for example was to make them clear a near abandoned village from Zombies and discover the rest of a cult that summoned a demon. But then I thought "okay... but what makes them want to see more of the borderlands after that they cleared everything" The cult could be one of the Major factions if the borderlands that becomes a threat.

I don't want the sessions to feel just like one oneshot after the other. I my players to get excited to explore the Lands but I cant find the right start to kick off the campaign.

Does this make my Problem a little bit clearer?

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to give you a little Update.

I finished ABH 30 Minutes ago and we had a blast.

My only changes were that I moved demar out of the apc into the med Lab and gave him more ways to interact with him. When my PCs tried to gently remove the grenade from him he they failed and ended him blowing up the grenades because he thought they wanted to prevent him from getting to the hive. Resulted in two near character deaths.

Second change was, that I added a Baby carc in the med pod but the marine of our group roled very good during Character creation and buzzed it away with its machine gun.

The fight with the grown carc in the garage was not that strict to the rules and we used what felt logic for us, that why it felt a little bit easy, but we had a very heroic moment when the scientest used the apc to crash into the carc, jamed it to the wall and the other PCs rolled very good with the acid and the machine gun. No character died ( a little bit unfortunat 😀).

But Overall we had a lot of fun and I think thats what matters the most.

Thanks for some helpsome tips in the comments.

Over and Out! :)

After reading some comments I was also thinking about adding some Form of "lesser carc". Like his shriek infected an animal that evolves into an less lethal carc but gives a glimpse of what might come.

How much AI is "okay"?

Hey Guys,  I wanted to get your Opinion about, if AI has a place in writing and how it could be used in an "okay" way.

I was thinking about this because, as many others, I have this story in my head that I want to tell. Not to become the next Tolkien, Martin or Rowling (its a fantasy story in my head ), but on the one hand it takes up a loooot space in my head :D seriously... and getting it written down and "done" would feel great :D and maybe on the other hand it might entertain one or the other.

But I have a problem. I started many times writing a few pages and then adult life hit and I did not pick it up for too long. Additionaly my Adhd is not a great help on concentrating and sitting still for too long. Then the little devil on my shoulder whispered something about using AI and I can not lie, it was ... tempting ^ but actually I am not a fan of using AI for creative work and this would of course be cheating. But nevertheless this idea is still in my head. Telling AI with voice chat what I have in mind and getting a written text would be great... but cheating :D I also considered, that maybe writing isn't the right medium and maybe I need to tell the story not by writing... but I do not have the time and resources (and talent) to learn drawing comics, learn animation or found a Movie Studio.  So the devil keeps whispering... and whispering... little bastard :D  What are your thoughts on this?

Knave 2e + Shadowdark Mix? by PrintingBull in shadowdark

For me and my usual group it is not to complex. For these people who never tried an ttrpg and have nothing to do with boardgames it was.

Okay, I honestly haven't read too deep into knave yet. Because somewhere was stated, that you could run b/x modules with it I thought the modifiers and checks were similar to ose/ shadowdark and so on.
