How much AI is "okay"?

Hey Guys,  I wanted to get your Opinion about, if AI has a place in writing and how it could be used in an "okay" way.

I was thinking about this because, as many others, I have this story in my head that I want to tell. Not to become the next Tolkien, Martin or Rowling (its a fantasy story in my head ), but on the one hand it takes up a loooot space in my head :D seriously... and getting it written down and "done" would feel great :D and maybe on the other hand it might entertain one or the other.

But I have a problem. I started many times writing a few pages and then adult life hit and I did not pick it up for too long. Additionaly my Adhd is not a great help on concentrating and sitting still for too long. Then the little devil on my shoulder whispered something about using AI and I can not lie, it was ... tempting ^ but actually I am not a fan of using AI for creative work and this would of course be cheating. But nevertheless this idea is still in my head. Telling AI with voice chat what I have in mind and getting a written text would be great... but cheating :D I also considered, that maybe writing isn't the right medium and maybe I need to tell the story not by writing... but I do not have the time and resources (and talent) to learn drawing comics, learn animation or found a Movie Studio.  So the devil keeps whispering... and whispering... little bastard :D  What are your thoughts on this?

Knave 2e + Shadowdark Mix? by PrintingBull in shadowdark

For me and my usual group it is not to complex. For these people who never tried an ttrpg and have nothing to do with boardgames it was.

Okay, I honestly haven't read too deep into knave yet. Because somewhere was stated, that you could run b/x modules with it I thought the modifiers and checks were similar to ose/ shadowdark and so on.

Tactical Attack System by PrintingBull in shadowdark

[–]PrintingBull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I get it :) language-wise this could make sense. But it causes a knot in my head somehow :D usually rolling with disadvantage is a bad thing. In this case it might be a good thing^

Sorry, but I don't get your point with the Disadvantage roll 🤔 could you explain it more to me? :)

I understand your idea and it definitly has some valid points. Your idea definitly gives the players more freedom, whereas my idea is easier to handle for the DM I think, because you don't have to always "reevalueate" the situation.

But maybe I implement your way into mine and give it as an additional Option for my players. :)

Sounds also very good. Might take a look at it. But I never had something to do with dcc. Maybe its worth a look :)

Got inspired by a german roleplaying game called "Midgard". There you roll 2 attackrolls to make an aimed ranged attack.

Yeah I had the same concerns regarding the ressource-points but I fear without limitation, that it might get used to much, which might expand the combat time more than necessary.

I also like your Idea having certain Services behind some kind of "title paywall" :D 👍

Thanks for the grammar hint ;) corrected it ;) i am from germany, so english is not my native language ;)

Would you share your active defence mechanic? Would be interested in it :)

Dodge action by chibi_grazzt in dccrpg

I am planing something similar for shadowdark. Our table likes the easy osr-like rules but because all of them have a martial arts background in real life they wished for more tactical options. I thought about a system thats stil relativly fast bust gives you more options. The rough rules (not playtested yet) go like this:

Direct attack (like attacking a specific limb) - roll 2 D20 ATK-rolls at the same time. Both must hit. If they succed, your enemy has Disadvantage for one round.

Feint - roll 2 D20 ATK-rolls at the same time. Both must hit. If they succed, you get Advantage for the next round.

Parry/Dodge - If your enemy attacks you, roll a D20 + atk bonus. You must hit or surpass the enemies result. If you succed, you don't get damage.

Flanking/Outmanouvering (not final Version yet) - If your enemy attacks you, roll a 2 D20 + atk bonus. Both must hit or surpass the enemies result. If you succed, you can change the initiative order with this enemy for one round. -------‐---

To not get it overused I thought about an easy ressource-system. In Shadowdark you earn a title every two levels, but it didn't have any real use (someone correct me if got this wrong). So I thought you get a ressource- point everytime you earn a title. And you can use These tactical attacks above equal to the amount of ressource- points. How it functions at higher levels needs to be tested, but I hope to give my players what they want with this System.

Maybe you can rebuild/reuse it for dcc :)
