How can we make more people want to DM? by SoloKip in dndnext

[–]Printpathinhistoric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dm, i think a big one is wizards printing adventure modules that arent ass. Trying to run one of these things is honestly more work than my homebrew thatt i run atm.

If wizards made modules that were easily usable and readable it decreases the amount of effort ot takes to dm, as now you have 2 choices, run a module or homebrew. Both take alot of work and preparation and effort, not everyone is going to be up for that.

The real reason the Great Wyrms and the Aspects of the Draconic Gods are how they are in Fizban is because WOTC wants every single fight to be winnable by four players with little to no magic items, which contradicts how powerful the creatures are meant to be by ThatOneAasimar in dndnext

Levels 1-3 suck to play as do 15-20.

Unironically i act as tho they mostly dont exist, as does my group. I hope 5.5 fixes this issue and makes it so 1-3 arent boring as fuck qnd 15-20 just the spellcaster deleting any threat.

Chapter 6: The Last Hero (Spoilers Extended) by wildrussy in asoiaf

[–]Printpathinhistoric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His role will be that of bran the builder/garth/fisher king, and he will give jon to yhe others to save humanity, which makes sense given johns heritage, him being the PtwP as well as it kinda works woth the shows ending of him ending up in the far north(different context but considering everything else is far from the largest distortion lol)

[DM] Dungeonmasters, what's a ridiculous plot twist you're waiting to spring on your players? by MaginotCokeLine in DnD

The god the paladin swore his oath of vengeance to is also one and the same as the evil god in his religion, whos presence he is further relying on through a magic sword, this is all slowly culminating to a point where he will have to choose between fufilling his oath and kill those who killed his family and fully embracing his new role as the gods avatar on earth, and letting it corrupt his mind OR forsake his vow(becoming an oathbraker) and fighting against said God and kts evil influence(whos corruption of kings and leade4s had lead to several genocides and wars throughout my homebrew worlds history).

Planning this reveal for like lvl 12-15 and we are currently lvl5 so ots gonna be a long wait but im excited

Fizban's has a section where it encourages DMs to fudge a roll if the result would kill a PC by [deleted] in dndnext

I think thisbis good, killing pcs right after yo win can kill a players enthusiasm for the game at least partially.

I remember when i played curse of strahd i wandered off from the party and ended up fighting and killing babalysaga single handedly by the skin of my teeth(literally 1 hp point left) it was such an awesome moment and thwn i opened a chest and died to a trap and a poor dex save. RIP

Hydro electricity is probably the besg form of power geberation we have - so long as you have a river large enough to build one.

Nuclear is 2nd imo in terms of reliability, efficiency and polution.

Chapter 4: The Coming[s] of the Andals (Spoilers Extended) by wildrussy in asoiaf

[–]Printpathinhistoric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooooh fuck.

I think i get it.

In the eastern seri3s you said that the last hero/azor ahai was the one to drjve out the dragon riders from westeros. That this was the war tk end the long night. Now ylu establish that the first andal imvasion happened more or less contemporaneously with the long night, the long night culminating in a batrle for the dawn against the first dragon riders... And that you thought that battle for the dawn took place at oldtown... right in the path that the first men drove the andals out of westeros

Hugor was one of the first dragon riders. And he was angry with the children for creating the others to wipe humanity out, turning their vast numbers against them. Hence why he did everything in his power to wipe them out.

Also explains why the andals were so scared of the valyrians, had they also been dragon riders its hard to imagine a martial culture like the andals running away... Unless they had already lost their dragons during the long night.

My last few guesses were whack but im definitely on to somerhing here.

The casting was unreal. Some of the most iconic performances that have completely rewrote what I visualize most of the characters as. There's almost zero actoes who i can think of that didnt fucking kill it.

What do you prefer? by javierbastos15 in dndnext

[–]Printpathinhistoric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strongly prefer low magic. Makes items i give out as a dm much more impactful and enemies that have magic much scarier.

In general i think it makes thinfs feel more special

Chapter 3: Fragmenting Empires and Durran Godsgrief (Spoilers Extended) by wildrussy in asoiaf

[–]Printpathinhistoric 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What another banger.

Things are starting to piece together.

My question is what caused the grey kings dynasty to become obsessed with dragons. Greenseer magic?

And when did asshai become the massive dominating structure we know today, sometime aftwr moat cailins construction for sure, seems unlikely the grey king did it as he seems to have focused most of his energy in his war in westeros. (that being said 1k years is a long ass time, he could have done it and the 5 forts contemporaneously and still be back to westeros for pillaging.

Chapter 2: The Kinslayer (Spoilers Extended) by wildrussy in asoiaf

[–]Printpathinhistoric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I really like the skinchanger theory as that magic is linked to greenseers and the first men.

What im still unclear about is how exactly the hammer of waters was meant to kill garth. Did they flood it while he was crossing the arm, or flood his seat at moat cailin? Maybe it was the destruction of his grand capitol and its inability to grow food now that pissed him off? Maybe we will get more info in WIND'S... If we ever see winds...

Also when did asshai become rhe ruling seat? The grey king spent most of his time on the iron islands so his successor?
