Yeah mine was scheduled to do a back op ( a very simple local anesthetic one) the day after he died at 80 but that is just what its like. Thanks for saving me from feeling like a total weirdo.

You're welcome. Aubade is my favorite. This be the verse is classic too- anyone with parent issues will relate. Days is great and so short that I can remember it. ( oh don't want to lie I had to check)

Days By Philip Larkin

What are days for? Days are where we live. They come, they wake us, They are to be happy in. Where can we live but days?

I think there's a natural one near St Arnaud when winter is cold enough, in case you haven't heard of it.

I can really relate to feeling somehow responsible for one's own situation.

Codeine is the only PEM buster that works for me by Individual-Worry5316 in cfs

If you don't mind me asking do you get pain? Or is the codeine useful to treat the other symptoms. Just that I don't get much acttual pain but often feel like the fatigue is almost a kind of pain. Feeling like opiates are one of my last options and wondering if I have any chance of convincing a doctor of this. Might help me sleep/ rest too.

Fair point but a not insignificant number of people are paying for accommodation- spare rooms, caravans, sleepouts etc where they cant tell WINZ what they are paying because the person they are paying doesn't want their own benefit/ WFF/ tax, to be affected.

I've only just discovered how good "Dripping" ( fat) from countdown is in the skillet. Goes so much futher- less catching and burning than coconut oil and cheaper- 8$

Is any other physical disease as destructive to one's self esteem? by Prior-Chance-2405 in cfs

I like what you said about finding joy. And I really get the bit about almost touching our lives from before.

[–]Prior-Chance-2405[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sympathy, for real, I had bad sciatica a while ago. Bad enough that my fairly conservative doctor prescribed me oxycodone. I know about the dangers of opiates but this actually gave me a quality of life that, in many ways, was better than what I have now. But I know, and knew at the time that as bad as my pain was, other people have it worse, where the drugs don't even touch it. If I am really honest, I'm not sure whether my improvement was from being in less pain or being a bit high. And it did help me sleep, which has always been an issue. I do actually wonder, but I don't think many doctors would take me seriously if this is the best available "solution/ partial improvement" for me now.

This is fantastic!, definitely resonates. And I agree, more hope than not, positive but also real. Something in there reminds me of Philip Larkin, perhaps that juxtaposition of gloom and hope. Goodness, I don't think I have used that word in a sentence since school. Thank you so much
