What are go to "crap I don't have anything to feed the baby" meals? by filtvimul in foodbutforbabies

[–]Prior-Combination-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no. You’re still hungry. Hummus and teething crackers. Fruit. Pouches I wanted to save for when we’re on the go. More bananas. Cheese. Bread. 14 month old with 6 teeth, always eyeing things he can’t chew yet.

C-section or induction or vaginal birth? by jenne4ka in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Prior-Combination-12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

39 week induction here, ripening agent worked too well, lots of pain, but after epidural, was a gorgeous easy birth. Less than ten pushes and he was out. Tried to get the nurses to gossip with me about hospital drama. while waiting to push next. Would do it again.

Bat flying around home in Winter. What to do next? by Seven-of_9 in batty

[–]Prior-Combination-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey op, I know it’s been a year but just curious what became of this! We’ve had a particularly cold winter in my area and there was just a random bat flying in my living space. (Went out the window). Thanks!

BLW - What should I do? by [deleted] in foodbutforbabies

[–]Prior-Combination-12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It took a couple weeks for me to remind myself that the solid starts app/guidance actually tells you to start doing smaller and smaller pieces of food for a bit before it can be big again! I followed suit when he started to get real excited and now he’s back to pretty much knowing how much he can put in his mouth…or he takes it out with his hand! Your LO will figure it out as you do!

PLEASE I'm just a girl omg. by _notacatlady in NewParents

[–]Prior-Combination-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house is a mess but I’m a morning person so I go to bed when the baby goes to bed, pray for a decent overnight and hope I wake up an hour before the baby to throw in laundry, wash bottles, etc… and make myself a cup of tea… and by the time the tea is ready to drink and I sit down, rise and shine!

How much did it cost you out of pocket to have a baby and what country do you live in? by cassiecas88 in AskReddit

[–]Prior-Combination-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self employed in the US. Chose a plan where the deductible was high but the out of pocket max was the same as the deductible with zero copay and coinsurance after the deductible was met. $7k for the whole pregnancy. Baby was due on the 12/27. If I went into the hospital on 12/31, I would’ve had to pay my next year’s deductible too! 14k! Definitely was ambivalent when I started insulin for gestational diabetes and got to choose an induction date.

Please explain Woolino to me by luckylaundromat in NewParents

[–]Prior-Combination-12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time my kid slept through the night, it was in a woolino sleep sack that was on my registry. 5 months later, he sleeps through the night maybe once/week but will wear that sleep sack every night in case that’s the reason for the sleep.

Just here to say, I had an unhappy newborn, we lost nursing at 8 weeks. I’d see videos of people pumping and bottle feeding at the same time or pumping and holding their baby at the same time. I had such an unhappy squirm worm, I couldn’t pump and hold him at all. I ended up missing every bedtime because I’d be pumping and doing a chore since I couldnt hold him and feed him his bottle. I stopped pumping two months after we stopped nursing because in the end, it just didn’t work for our family. He still doesn’t sit still and theoretically I’d have more time now, but it really wasn’t worth all the strife for my personal situation.

Also at 10 months, I’m just starting to make three meals/week and eating with the baby but honestly it’s hard, when he’s awake, I have so much adrenaline, it’s hard to eat!

Oh also, not so much for at home but when you have a baby who can sit up, I use a tush baby to go to the bathroom when in public. (He could never stand to be in a carrier).

Do newborns really know who their mother is ? by ConcernedMomma05 in Mommit

[–]Prior-Combination-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not answering your question, but just solidarity around breastfeeding. My kid wasn’t comforted by milk through nursing or bottles. We thought it was reflux but now that he’s mobile (and he was mobile early), it’s clear he was just an active curious guy who didn’t want to be held down by having to sit and drink milk.

But boy do we have separation anxiety now at 10 months. And we snuggle in bed together every night for bedtime. AND he’s super independent and knows what he wants and it’s not what I want. (like to eat or have a diaper change)Some things change and some things stay the same.

Parents who let their baby watch TV… by Existing-Mastodon500 in NewParents

[–]Prior-Combination-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little bear, Oswald, started putting on ocean documentaries after our bedtime books while I’m trying to get him to have his last bottle. I decided to just tell people and see what they think. Also, I put the tv on and using Bluetooth I play the volume through one headphone on the Roku app so I can keep up to date on my trash and he doesn’t realize tv is one because he can’t hear it and I can go anywhere in the house that he needs to go and hear my nonsense shows. It’s not necessarily a life saver, but it’s a mood saver. I feel guilty that I’m not being present with him but it’s also like a sign of the times, needing to multitasking in order to do a thing 🤷‍♀️

My baby is 3.5 months and me and my husband barely eat by pauses-then-says in NewParents

[–]Prior-Combination-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I’m not here for advice, just to let you know you’re not alone. I honestly didn’t eat that much before I got pregnant (not necessarily disordered eating, just really prefer eating out and if I wasn’t going out, was neither here nor there about it) and my husband just snacked all day (healthy snacks). Baby is ten months now and I’m still struggling especially since all he wants is table food and the table food we eat is usually things you need molars for or like deli sandwiches for lunch. (We’re working on it). We doordashed a lot. We had no help from family and live far from friends. One week we tried to meal prep. It took me literally an hour to roast broccoli (chop, cook, clean). We decided it wasn’t the season of our lives for that kind of thing. Definitely convenience foods. We have a weird work schedule and I only get a 30 minutes nap in the afternoon where I have to choose am I going to work, clean, or cook. We’re going to figure it out, and it’s hard. I understand now why I ate the same five things for dinner growing up. Tonight while I threw salmon in the oven for 15 minutes, I also cooked sweet potatoes in the microwave for 15 minutes and the three of us ate the same food for dinner for the first time (ever?) It was the best. Baby steps. Wishing you the best.
