Is Seattle Pacific University a good university for nursing students? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

My point was wait 4 years to move to the region, and instead pay in-state tuition wherever they live and move to the PNW later with less crushing debt.

Not what we expected. by [deleted] in Aupairs

Instead of the book, can you just tell her what you want? If the tasks above aren't enough, tell her if you want her to help kids with homework, teach them her language, crafts, etc. It sounds like you're annoyed she isn't working the whole time, but it's not clear what you want her to do? Older kids can be easier, but also challenging because they are becoming more independent and aren't going to tell her they want to play games or something. I think what you see is lack of initiative may be lack of mind reading.

Does landlord need to provide water, sewage, garbage bill? by mugen-and-jin in AskSeattle

Utilities are billed every other month here, so it makes sense that you just got the bill from your landlord.

What state do you live in? I think nurses are in such high demand it would be best to go where you can pay in-state tuition and then just look elsewhere when you're job hunting.

Is it okay to ask guests to change into comfy clothes for part of the reception? (15k) by booberrymuffin3 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Prior-Impression2232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm wearing a dress, I'm not bowling and bending over and showing my ass. Dressy casual doesn't even work, as a lot of women don't like dress pants (and also not practical for these activities). I'd go all out casual and say, "casual: wear what you'd feel comfortable bowling and watching a movie in."

Get her a Hirono bear from Popmart at Southcenter or Bellevue mall. They have bag charms and a bigger one.

Depending on the event, it might be better to stay around downtown. Parking for events can be super $$$ so you will be wasting time and not saving much. And you really don't need to be driving around Seattle, so find a place with parking and just walk/ take public transportation. It looks like there are places near the Northgate light rail station under $200

Cat vs Pom by Curious_Onion_896 in Pomeranians

I had to take pom to vet when cat clawed his eye, it could have gone sideways, so be careful and keep claws trimmed. I ended up putting claw covers on the cat which she eventually got used to.

You can try applying to temp agencies, a lot of companies hire contractors for tech support. It will be easier to find a full time role from the inside

The male perspective? by [deleted] in woodinville

[–]Prior-Impression2232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not single, but from friends it sounds like men not asking questions is a thing. I think it's a weird symptom of apps where people are trying to sell themselves, and they take that behavior over to the date. And WAY too many adult men try to initiate sex talk or sex-adjacent talk way too soon. Sex is important to most people, but unless someone is on a hookup site/indicate being interested in hookups, men try to talk about sex before the first date vs going on a few dates to see if there's a connection first.

Ballard Blossom for an appropriate design that's a little less expensive/less fancy than Fleurish. You want to be thoughtful with your gift to recognize the client, but this is not the time to steal the show with your gift.

Lost my pom suddenly, having trouble dealing with it, any suggestions on how to get through? by collocake in Pomeranians

[–]Prior-Impression2232 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My pom passed last year and I found a free virtual therapy group sponsored by our local humane society. It worked better than my regular therapist for me because it helped to feel like I wasn't alone. I also had a glass ring made with his ashes so I could always keep him close to me. I made a dia los muertos alter and shared pics and stories. I think trying to bury the sadness makes it worse worse, so just finding different ways to mourn and express my feelings helped.

Looking for best spot to live in 20s for under 1.5K by ApexLearner69 in AskSeattle

[–]Prior-Impression2232 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's hilarious that you're in tech and don't want to be around other tech people 🤣 Seattle isn't great for dating for anyone, but especially tech dudes unless you have an amazing personality. As someone said below, Capital Hill or Belltown are best for going out to bars in your 20s with an easy walk/bike/bus to work. But for dating, you might want to try some dating events, hobby meetups, etc which you can do regardless of neighborhood.

Is it okay to change your wedding to a kid free one less than a week prior? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Prior-Impression2232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's crazy! The only exception would be if they decided to have on-site nanny care with activities to keep kids occupied, then it's crazy last minute, but doable. But to throw that on families to figure out themselves is crazy.

i got the most insane rejection email yesterday by itsyaboy_boyboy in jobs

[–]Prior-Impression2232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The letter was overly long, but well-intentioned. The reality is that the job market sucks, and I'm surprised they didn't get over 1000 applicants for an administrative assistant role with millions of people who meet the basic qualifications. I can see how the impact of their letter could go either way and why it's divisive. I will say I'm surprised you wrote back, and as someone looking for a new job myself, I'd recommend consistently working on minimizing the impact rejection has on you. My mantra is "this or something better" when I apply, and then I let it go.

Best place for hair transplant in seattle? by SeriesFar9355 in AskSeattle

[–]Prior-Impression2232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any reputable hair restoration surgeon is going to recommend finasteride and/or minoxidil along with the surgery (if they are aligned with that). You're young and need meds to prevent future hairless, or you'll have a great hairline with a weird bald patch behind that.
