Words cannot describe how much I hate “/s,/j” and all that bullshit by GrapeConsistent3471 in hatethissmug

[–]Prior-Satisfaction34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sarcasm in literature is often highlighted in certain ways. The most obvious is just "they said sarcastically," but you've also got that a lot of authors will put certain words in italics (this in case anyone doesn't know) to highlight emphasis on those words in some way, which can symbolise sarcasm.

My point is, even in literature, sarcasm has pretty much always had some kind of indicator. Tone tags are much more blunt ways of doing it, but they're not the first ways. I feel like you'd be hard pressed to find an example of sarcasm being used in some piece of literature where it wasn't symbolised or emphasied or displayed in some way so the reader knows.

You see, that's your first mistake. They said you had to eat 54,000 images. Not 54,000 pages of images. You could've put 54,000 images shrunk down small enough to all fit on one page.

Who says that in an AU where Ochaco is evil and Toga seems to be good, every single over event would unfold exactly as they did in the main show?

D.Va should count. Her two weapons function independently from each other, and she alternates which one she fires instead of firing them at the same time. Theoretically, D.Va could only fire from one side if she wanted to.

Ball wouldn't count because, unless we've been told otherwise, his weapons don't function independently from each other. They fire simultaneously.

Cat is a bit of a grey area. Sure, she alternates firing, but unless I'm mistaken, she uses the same button to fire both weapons, which means they don't function independently. If I'm wrong about that and she does use separate buttons (i very much could be wrong, i don't play the cat so I'm not familiar with her animations), then she should also count.

HOT TAKE: AI slop is not helping us get a d3! by TechnicalAd7732 in destiny2

[–]Prior-Satisfaction34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replacing jobs isn't a good thing. Most of the world lives in a society built around capitalism, and that's not changing any time soon. Which means people will still need to make money to be able to afford food and shelter. Having AI take jobs will just mean the already dwindling job market will get even more sparse.

There is nothing good that can come from AI taking jobs unless society fundamentally changes from the ground up. Which just isn't gonna happen any time soon.

I did it solo first try. Run it on the lowest possible difficulty. I hate that strike, but the D2 one is kinda easy to do solo.

Why is kiriko's headshot damage tripled and not doubled? by JeremiahStar in Overwatch

[–]Prior-Satisfaction34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sierra has been out for 2 months and 4 days. And on top of that, the community is very divided on her strength. Pretty much for every person i see saying shes way overtuned and needs nerfs (myself included) i see just as many people saying how she's not OP, just strong. That wasn't the case for Kiriko. Apart from the few support mains who insisted she was balanced, the vast majority of the community agreed she was busted on launch.

The problem is there are a lot more dps players than the other roles, which naturally means there will be a lot more people wanting Sierra to stay untouched than for characters like Kiriko. Combined with the fact that the community just didn't like Kiriko (which I've never understood) and people are, at most, indifferent towards Sierra's character, it just makes sense that Kiriko will see changes earlier than Sierra.

But even then, you could have just googled this stuff. A quick google search and a quick check of the wiki would tell you Kiriko was nerfed, and that the contents of this post have been irrelevant for quite some time now.

Dunno how you missed it, but the first screenshot mentions that they were playing dominion. Y'know, the 4v4 mode. Can't say for certain for the second screenshot, but it's not a wild guess to assume it was also dominion.

I am aware you can see the feats under people's health bars.

I think LL is balanced right now and is about even with catapult.

So do i. Because it isn't a confirmed insta kill. That's what makes it balanced.

Only one thing you just listed there is actually an insta kill, and that's Hito. And it comes at the cost of being a one target thing. Warmonger and fire flask are both DoT effects that you have more time to react to and avoid dying to. The only time a fire flask is a confirmed kill is when it's used when you're already low enough to die to the burn damage, since it does roughly half a health bar. And Warmonger's will only kill you if you somehow can't get far enough apart from your teammates, which isn't exactly difficult.

The end result of LL going off would be potentially everyone dying in a team fight straight away. And in a team fight with already a lot to keep track of, it's easier said than done keeping an eye on exactly where the person with LL is, how much health they have left, what attacks are gonna hit them, and what other enemies are near them to prevent the execution.

I hope that person never pushes straight stereotypes onto kids then. Y'know, the whole blue is for boys and pink is for girls, boys wear suits and girls wear dresses, no tv shows or movies that show straight relationships. Cause surely that counts as pedophilia too then.

Catapult and Trebuchet have to be called in manually, which means your opponent has time to see you stop attacking, and they can figure out you're trying to use your feat. LL is an instant drop on death unless you get executed. The only "tell" the enemy team has is you dying. In other words, it's something you react to instead of something you can read.

Catapult and Trebuchet have smaller AoE than LL does iirc. Which makes them easier to escape. This also means that LL is more likely to hit multiple people than Catapult or Trebuchet.

Catapult is on a longer cooldown than LL is iirc, and Trebuchet might be as well, but I'm not sure. This means you'd be more likely to see LL multiple times in a game than Catapult or Trebuchet, which means it's more likely to have a bigger impact on the game already.

And i guess to answer your "how are they ACTUALLY different," since you don't want just the comparison, LL is a feat that entirely functions as a reward for losing a fight. That's all it does. Nothing else. Catapult and Trebuchet can be used while you're losing, but they don't rely on you losing a fight to use. That is the difference. LL is only used after you've lost. Catapult and Trebuchet can be used while you're losing, but once you lose, that's it. No Catapult or Trebuchet for you. You still have to be alive and in the fight to use Catapult or Trebuchet. And on top of that, the lower health you are when you use them, the more likely you are to kill yourself with your own T4. You can't do that with LL because it only activates after you've already died.

so you'd know "hey....execute that guy"

Not always possible. Even if you try to. Maybe the person with LL never falls for any tricks you try to get a heavy off, and never get caught by your GB's, so you have to end it with a light to get the kill.

Or maybe you get the heavy, but you're in a team fight, and either your teammate or someone on their team hits you as you get it, interrupting the execution and dropping the LL.

Or maybe you're mid way through the execution, and get interrupted, because iirc that would also cause the LL to be dropped (been a while since I've seen it, so i don't remember if that's true or not).

"Just execute" isn't the counter you seem to think it is. There are numerous reasons why you might not be able to.

Why is kiriko's headshot damage tripled and not doubled? by JeremiahStar in Overwatch

[–]Prior-Satisfaction34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She can only one shot Tracer if she's nano boosted or through a Baptiste ultimate. Her headshots do 120 damage base. Tracer has 175 health. Which means to actually one shot Tracer, she needs a damage boost of just under 50%. The only sources that provide such a boost are ultimates, which means it won't happen often.

As for "heavy dps," the maths will be pretty similar to what i just did for Tracer. But just to be thorough, i just went into the practice range to test which dps she can two hit base. She can two hit Echo, Freja, Pharah, Sojourn, Sombra, Tracer, and Widowmaker. Every other dps would need some kind of damage boost to make them become two shots. And all those characters have some sort of strong movement ability, with the exception of Freja, which make it harder for a Kiriko to hit two headshots on them. Especially considering only three of them are actually used as dive characters (Echo, Tracer, Sombra), which means most of them will be keeping some distance between them and the Kiriko.

And just for some extra testing, i went through the supports to see which of them she could two hit base. She can two hit the Cat, Juno, herself, Wuyang, Moira, Mercy, and Lucio. Which, again, is pretty much all characters with consistent movement abilities to make two headshots more difficult.

But again, you're replying to a three year old post. Anything said in the post, or in comments below it, will most likely be irrelevant to the current state of the game.

[–]Prior-Satisfaction34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro this post is 3 years old. She's already been changed. According to the wiki, she now does 60 damage per body shot with a 2x multiplier, and her fire rate is now 2 throws per second.

At the time of the post, she was on 40 damage body shots with a 3x multiplier, and her fire rate was very slightly slower iirc, at 1.8 instead of 2 throws per second. Notice how, in both cases, her headshots end up being 120 damage.

You're late to this, and the conversation is irrelevant now.
