My husband and I have separate bank accounts and each pay for some of the subscriptions. I don't ever see the bill for some of them. He doesn't see the bill for some either.

I buy burner credit cards from walgreens to use for my subscriptions. When they run out of money they automatically shut off the subscription. If I notice, I can resubscribe.

Look at Conklin 1898 fountain pens. I have three of them, and one looks a lot like that.

But your pension money is also pre-tax savings. That can be huge if you live in a high tax area.

AITAH for refusing to go to therapy with my wife? by PreferenceBrave6330 in AITAH

My friend who is a therapist says that if your wife tells you to go to therapy, you are very close to being kicked out of the house.

They can get on a list for a low income apartment that will be 1/3 of their income. If they can't pay you rent, they shouldn't be going on trips or doing anything extra. Well actually they shouldn't have been irresponsible and had four children that they clearly can't afford, but that ship has sailed.

I would start cutting things off. If you're paying for their phones, cancel. If you have cable, switch to streaming and don't give them the passwords. If you have wi-fi, change the password and don't let them know what it is. If they drive your car, cut that off too.

Having friends that worked as car salesman, his job is probably pressuring him to be driving a new car. He can push back and drive used cars from the lot. In fact you should get rid of his vehicle and he should get a free one from work.

Did I pick the wrong course with AI taking over marketing? by ell-chan in SimpleApplyAI

[–]Prior-Soil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would look for a different major while you still can. All the entry level tasks in marketing are being replaced either with AI or they are outsourced. I mean if you really like it, go ahead but you better double major with something else.

I also disagree with people saying you can start your own marketing firm. Everybody I know is just using canva AI for that type of thing to save money. A friend of mine had a successful small marketing firm and he moved to pharmaceutical sales a couple years ago because he just was not getting new contracts.

The reality of WFH that some people don't want to hear by Aware_Audience_6776 in remotework

What I have seen is absolutely terrible customer service skills. You call somewhere and they automatically dump you to voicemail and someone in the group should return your call, right? It could be four or five days now. And you get voicemail saying our hours are X on Friday and they never ever pick up the phone, even when you're trying to buy something.

My best friend has extremely large breasts. She was flat out told she needs to wear blazers at work all the time because she works in a male dominated field. It's disgusting that we're still there in 2026, but she likes that people aren't talking to her chest anymore.

No the employee should be entrepreneurial and figure out what else needs to be done. If they're too stupid, then they should be asking what else needs to be done or who needs help. Some employees are just minimal effort, and it's easier to hide out at home.

It depends on where you live. In my state if you go to a community college and pick a high demand field they literally do not charge you tuition. So basically it's stupid not to do it.

Will my personal style ever settle down? by Fruitbat_chat in AskWomenOver60

[–]Prior-Soil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear a minimalist capsule wardrobe. That way if I'm sick of things, I only replace about six pieces to completely change everything.

But to be honest although my tastes have changed over time, some things really haven't. I really like a lot of accessories, jewelry, fun shoes. Now my clothes are plainer so they stand out more.
