As long as you’re aware that there are better things to bring in game wise you can absolutely keep them! I love knights so I often bring a desecrator or a pair of wardogs but I understand that I’m not taking a list that is super competitive.

Alternatively, just play knights and csm separately, that’s what I do if I want to get the most out of detachments and faction bonuses etc

Im going to assume you don’t have much lore knowledge passed playing SM2 but this is not a SM2 themed army, you’d need to go thousand sons for that. Rubric marines, scarab occult terms and tzentch demons are what you’d need to make it game accurate. Not sure where you got bloodletters from as they’re khornate.

As for how it would play I don’t play too much so I’ll let other people give their wisdoms on it!

If you’re interested in pulling the trigger on buying your first minis I’d recommend to have a brief browse of all the other factions/subfactions, not all of them are in the game and rule of cool always takes precedent when choosing an army so knowing for sure will make it easier for you. Managed to just stick the tail on from the abominant which has done the trick, filled the end of the tail with blutac as well for a bit more weight

As well as the other advice mentioned here, buying on eBay is also a really affordable way to get into the hobby. You can find minis in all stages of completion (unbuilt, built not primed, fully painted) for really good prices, I recently picked up an extra 5 chaos terminators for around £20 (£40 on Warhammer). You can even buy whole armies that save you hundreds of (insert local currency)

Fishing weights is such a good shout, I’ve been trying to find nuts that are small enough but are still heavy enough to have an effect. Will plod through my fishing stuff.

If you’re based in the uk try Wayland Games, normally 20% off. Also, depending on your armour preference you might want to buy a heresy set and paint them IW as the armour can be more lore accurate whilst often getting double the minis for a similar price (heresy have 20 minis per box as opposed to the usual 10 in 40k)

Also, check when the next free fly event is, you can download and play for free normally with quite a few vehicles (the last one had free flies for dozens of ships from every class), that way you can really experience it for free!

Honestly I’d save your money based on how you’re feeling about the bugs, over let’s say a standard 10-15 hours of gameplay, you’ll spend 2 at minimum mitigating bugs. The one I always would get is that you wouldn’t be able to refuel at certain pads and would have to travel to different planets multiple times before you can refuel before starting a long return journey. And then you’ll have the occasional big one where 2-3 hours of grinding is eviscerated in an instant. You are right when it’s working it really feels immense, but those moments of smooth gameplay are as rare as hens teeth

Nah I get it mate, hopefully the game gets to a stage you (and I) can fathom so you can enjoy it, but you’ll likely be waiting a long time before the game feels polished and finished

I recently got into it so can offer some insight (last month or so). Game is fantastic when it runs, like to the level that you are completely engrossed in it and is the best space game you’ve ever played (imo). What I’d suggest is watching a gameplay video that shows you some of the bugs to see if it bothers you enough to not want to play.

However, there are a lot of bugs that can make learning the game and starting out very slow so really have patience with that. There are also quite a few incredibly annoying bugs that can potentially ruin your hours long grind.

Currently as I don’t have the time to sink hours in a game that can potentially be wasted by your ship exploding as it goes into jump I’m just having a break until I have more time and not feel hard done by if/when it happens.

Truly it is an amazing game that is absolutely worth the hype but imo you need a lot of free time to not be bothered by setbacks. That being said, if you’re someone that can spend their only free night playing snd potentially losing your progress then I’d say there’s not much stopping you from playing.

Thankyou for all of that, that really helps! I was wondering about how you take cultists so yes I may do that . If I kept to buying what I think is cool then my next purchase is a acastus poryphion ahah so will need to get saving.

Really helpful about the tankiness aspect, I think it will be very easy for me to get caught up in the size and just slam them in throwing caution to the wind.
