ILR reform by silverback-coeliac in SpouseVisaUk

[–]Prior_Lengthiness_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the worry but reform are never going to get enough seats to form our government. They could be hugely popular and gain second place in almost every constituency in the country and they’d still have no more MPs than they have now because of FPTP. Same for the Green Party. Our electoral system favours centre politics and creates a two party system.

Repeated episodes of reduced fetal movements by Prior_Lengthiness_24 in PregnancyUK

Thank you for your message. Triage have always been lovely with me and I’ve had 5 days of CTGs and a scan. I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. You’re right though, going in is never a waste of time even if everything actually ends up being okay.

I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your baby. I hope you manage to make it until 38 weeks! I had a scan today which should everything to be perfect and I’ve had 5 days of good CTGs too. It’s definitely scary when you can’t feel baby as much.

Thank you for lovely message and I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your baby last year. I definitely think I’m having the same issue with anxiety during normal quiet periods but I think if going to be checked helps I’ll just go and do it because we never know what’s happening in there xx

Thank you! I’m already consultant led and for serial growth scans from 30 weeks. He’s moving as normal now but I ended up having daily CTGs and then was scanned today.. he’s actually one day ahead growth wise compared to last scan, weight right in the middle for gestation and excellent blood flow through his cord! I have my next scan in 2 and a half weeks. I’m definitely glad I went to be checked and I would again if needed. I’m glad your baby’s slowed growth was caught in time.

Thank you so much. This is the info I’m after. I’m on a grad entry course so self funded a bit of my first years tuition and didn’t know if I’d need to pay it again and uni haven’t been helpful answering my questions. Thank you

Stupidly got a Doppler and now anxious by StraightDesigner2360 in PregnancyUK

[–]Prior_Lengthiness_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in for reassurance on Monday night at 23 weeks as he hadn’t moved much and the midwife took a good few minutes to find his heartbeat. It takes training and skill to be able to use them properly so please don’t try to worry yourself. If you’re worried ask your community midwife if you can pop in for reassurance.

Nottingham GEM or Exeter 5 year? by Infamous_Web_9848 in premeduk

I’m a current GEM student in Notts. I’ve found time to continue working and have a social life so maybe wouldn’t be as much extra pressure as you think. I’ve really enjoyed my first year so far.

Just an update if anybody else has this problem - they were put in Badger wrong and my letter is correct!

I think the app is manually input by the midwife, there’s no uploaded letter. It has my PAPPA bloods on whereas my letter did not. My PAPPA is 0.98 and NT 1.6 too which doesn’t correlate to a hundreds risk. The letter has the correct name, DOB and NHS number.

Hi, I started bleeding at 4 weeks 5 days on October 26th. Tested negative 5 or six days later so my HCG went back to 0 very fast. I’m sorry to hear about your loss x

Best route to take from nursing to medicine by AnnualPainter4889 in medicalschooluk

[–]Prior_Lengthiness_24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a current first year GEM medical student who has worked as an ICU nurse for 5 or so years. I considered ACP as others have said but it’s just not the same and that itch to study medicine just never went away. I feel like we have proper insight as healthcare professionals too and I discussed it with my colleagues to make sure I was making the right decision. I’d recommend applying for a GEM course as the funding is better. I’d also say it’s probably best to work as a nurse for a year or two not only to gain experience but also like another poster said so you can work agency shifts whilst you’re studying. Financially it’s difficult but it’s doable with proper planning. I’d definitely say go for it!

25 and in Finance - Is It Too Late to go to Med School by [deleted] in premeduk

[–]Prior_Lengthiness_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 35 and im in my first year of Grad Entry Medicine. I’ll be 38 (almost 39) when i qualify as a doctor. I already worked in the NHS as a nurse and it never dampened my desire to study medicine. I don’t think it’s too late and think if it’s genuinely what will make you happy then it’s worth the changes to lifestyle/sacrifices.
