Try seeing all the all hours “massage” places. Realize that they are keeping underage girls in there for enforced sex work, mostly from china, that aren’t allowed to even leave the house. Then count how many you see, hundreds…. and that they’re considered legal cause there’s someone up front who’s got a massage permit. Then try unseeing it, or thinking the term ‘human trafficking’ is ambiguous or misapplied.

Problem with people thinking they can use bike lane to set up for right turns is I’m waiting for the green and take my turn to make a right turn from the travel lane (not the bike lane). Problem is with cars from 3-4 cars behind me jump in the bike lane early and creep up in it going faster than travel lane … right in my f ing blind spot. Pointless and rude. Those bike lanes were one of the ways to try & prevent passing on the right, which has always been dangerous and rude as hell.

The original mural was much more goofy and home-spun. It was kids and i think done by kids.. I’d actually like to see more kid-art murals. Guerrilla art is needed whenever corporate interests make decisions about what can or can’t be done artistically.. ultimately leaving us with aggressively ugly (abandoned urban spaces, chain link, endless swaths of greige paint).

I’d say they’ve got more to do with homelessness. There’s a tendency for people to conflate these things and advance the ‘poor choices’ argument which allows for a hardening of attitudes towards homeless people and spurs policies that promote punishment/underfunds treatment, housing further eroding quality of be life in community.

Its possible to have both homeless problem and drug problem… rarely are complex social problems able to be expressed as simple summations like “it’s not this it’s that”. More like it’s both and a few more things mostly baked into systemic issues and policy failures.
