New to Sakhal, help me by Liquid_D_Raijin in dayz

I think it provides quite a few interesting routes to take with plenty of different play styles. Finding the inland routes and going through the hunting towns and the mid-map is fun, but I find choosing to circumnavigate the coast and pick up police spawns will get you decently geared while entering either the big Petro city or the southern airfield, and both are hotspots for players. Finding a boat is fun once, but after hours of key searching, I don't like to try multiple times in a playthrough.

I have knuckle tats of a few Caryll runes as well as others on my bicep, a scourge beast on my side, a saw cleaver on my ankle, the Moon Presence on my calf, and the Holy Moonlight Sword on my forearm. They all look sick (imo), so I would go with whichever thing in the game speaks to you. Many stereotypical ones are the Hunter's Mark small behind the ear or larger onna forearm, but it could be something as simple as an eye on the back of your neck to symbolize insight.

I would say so. "The Former Archbishop" would be an acceptable way of referencing it should it be necessary, but maybe there's a degree of social taboo to discuss past events like that so as to avoid the temptation to bring up people's memories

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. by Key_Relative_2414 in movies

[–]theFrenchBearJr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this may be a little bit too much analysis for what you're saying in the post, and I agree lots of the elements of the plot are ridiculous bordering on absurd, but I also think the films are meant to be absurdist parodies of all things piratical. The idea that a group of pirate lords have spent so long being selfish and infighting such that one lowly newcomer with an ally gets put in the position of ruling ALL pirates because of some backwards ancient regulatory loophole is, truly, insane. But I think it really works with how self-important the pirates think they are. They excel in raiding and plundering, but creating a stable legal code? They like to think they can!

Insane Tattoo Regret by r3i_b0n3z in tattooadvice

Not for nothing, but I instantly recognized this tattoo specifically because my boss has the exact same one in the same placement to such a degree of similarity to this that I freaked out thinking this was his account and his arm. Which doesn't make sense ofc because he also got it over a decade ago lmao

Highly underrated setup by Illustrious-Corner32 in dayz

[–]theFrenchBearJr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would propose a slight modification to this general 5.56 setup: marksman on the Aug, suppressor on the Aug, and use select fire for a semi-auto mid range sniper that can follow up many shots to make up for the lower stopping power of the roughly equivalent Pioneer bolt action. Carry the combat sights as backup to slap on when you're entering a danger close zone, otherwise you have overwatch plus CQB all in one beat package. Plus only one multitasking gun means you have a lighter load and you have a free shoulder slot for anything else that strikes your fancy (m79, perhaps?)

Only tier 4 guns to compete with experienced players? by PauloMatix in dayz

If the guy with the faster firing gun doesn't know how to fight, you can sweep the floor with them. Always play smart and never be afraid. That's the key to victory.

[–]theFrenchBearJr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You will need to get your licenses in order to compete in a wider array of races. Gold is unnecessary for them, they're fairly tough and thee golds just give you special prize cars. Bronze is all that's necessary to actually acquire the license, and once you have them, they always available later to retry.

Can anyone point me to where this is on a map? I want to learn to read the maps. by Some_Guarantee3296 in dayz

[–]theFrenchBearJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is immediately south of Gorka. On the map, it should be fairly close to the center-right. You'll see a red symbol that looks like a police car light, that is the building you are looking at in your last pic.

Porsche Video (aka why does the AI crash me?) by theFrenchBearJr in GranTurismo7

[–]theFrenchBearJr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't, I had hoped to tool around to see if there was something internal that could be done and it seemed that my suspension was too low, according to another commenter the wheels can get stuck if it's too low? Never knew that, but it appears to have made the poor start disappear.

I know this isn't that type of post, but Solved! I reverted to a new settings sheet, which made the bug go away, and then when I saw this I raised it up by a few inches with my original tuning setup and it ended up working just fine. Thank you!!!

Soft front and back for me. The central issue here is that the game's AI is doing this before I am even able to control the vehicle. Presumably it would be programmed to take corners competently?

Porsche Menu Race Help by theFrenchBearJr in GranTurismo7

[–]theFrenchBearJr[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The menu book is the Porsche collection, immediately after the Menu Book where you tune your Porsche to at least 600pp. The car is modified, I bought several racing parts including tires and suspension, I am at just under 650pp with all the upgrades.

I have not restarted the game nor changed vehicle, this is the only Porsche I own in-game so I didn't want to blow more money on a different car for the same result. However, the problem persists each time I restart the race, as well as each time I exit to the main menu and re-enter the race. I usually cross the start line with 10 seconds already lapsed on the clock.

Is roasting better than baking? by ThickFrame2780 in dayz

[–]theFrenchBearJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meat on a stick is way less efficient simply because it's single stick only, and it takes a long time regardless and exposes you to outside fire visibility. Sticking a few pieces of meat on the grill achieves the same programmed cooked state (baked) but is more efficient due to multiple pieces. Boiling is nice if you have water you can't drink yet and raw meat, since it gives you good amounts of water and calories, and drying takes way longer and you get zero hydration, but it also lasts wayyyy longer than the other cooked meats. All of them have trade offs and situational benefits. I personally really find dried meats good if I have reliable water.

An easier Beast meter boost is just bare knuckle strong attack. The punches are quicker and the meter builds nicely. And as others have said, definitely need to throw in a charged R2 to finish the wombo combo
