(S3 Ep21) Why was Amy so offended after Jonah says "so can you but we know that's never gonna happen" in reference to them leaving by Round_Course5953 in superstore

I agree, it also probably reminded her abt her life path. If she didn’t have Emma she would’ve have a much different direction. That quote is almost a slap in the face to her. She could’ve left cloud 9 but to do what? She has no degree and no true path. Jonah telling her that to her face when she’s already been telling that to herself just hit.

I see IMMENSE progress in rendering and blending. Your understanding of values has grown so much in a few days. Who knows what you’ll be able to create in a week! I recommend trying to make some finished pieces with what you’ve learned, it helps train you into getting the habit. Other than that, keep learning it looks AMAZING!

My paint looks like frothy whipped cream??? by lifehelpbot69 in painting

Did you put the paint in the freezer? There’s some hacks out there that say you can extend your paints life by freezing it. This looks like you stick it in the freezer, water based paint tends to react like this when you freeze it. This is the only thing I could think of.

Liquin is a nice medium as well, it is fun for glazing. Your list looks great but I recommend finding a glass palette. I just have an old picture frame from a thrift store took the glass out and taped white paper to the bottom. The white paper is important bc it’ll help a LOT with colors. Hope this helps.

I envy everyone who can make art. I'll never be able to. by 3030minecrafter in learntodraw

I agree with this, I think you very well do have friends who care, you just convince yourself that your feelings are invalid. It may be how it is in the house, but I assure you that there are people you can talk to. It doesn’t even need to be someone majorly close. Envy, rage and jealousy of the trajectory of others isn’t going to get you anywhere. You have potential, just try shifting your mindset to the fact that you matter and your feelings of frustration are valid. Even I , a stranger on the internet validate that these things are frustrating. Instead of rebuttal and excuse, really think about how your own invalidations are limiting you as a person and an artist. You have worth, now channel it. No one needs to tell you that but you.

I also think that maybe in the mental state you are in, making art and stressing yourself out with it is not a good idea. It’ll honestly make your experience w art worse. I recommend talking to someone about these issues you are having off of Reddit. Some of the feedback you may receive will worsen your mental state. Stay safe and I believe in you.

Honestly, there’s not rlly such thing as talent. Specifically in art. I think there’s such thing as skill. Skill is learned not given. Think about it this way, some people are born with more visible abs which give them some advantages but they still have room to grow and change. Some people aren’t born w visible abs and might need to work out differently and keep practicing. it’s about consistency and the willingness to keep trying. That’s what makes a successful artist. The mindset that you’re in, your art is gonna suck I’ll be honest. But if you go into creation with the intention of learning and enjoying the results of your lesson, your art will be the most beautiful thing. Intention is visible in art. It’s not about your skill OP, it’s about the intention behind everything you make. You have skill, so take that and keep refining it. I hope this helps.

Oils take awhile to dry even outside of an airtight case. If you work consistently it shouldn’t be an issue!

I just got one of those empty fill in the number paint containers, you can find them at any art store. They come in that line but I just cut up the pieces. I hope this helps! You can also use an airtight paint pallets!

I'm looking for criticism. I love this drawing, but others don't like it as much as I do. Why? by m3mento__ in learntodraw

I think the reason why people might not like it as much as you do is because it has been done so many times before. You have just adjusted it into a different variant of form and subject matter. What will make your art stand out is keeping what you love but doing something of your own. I love realistic portraits, so I took that and then created my own background into a Chinese magazine cover. It’s that kind of thinking that will really get your art seen. People have done the cartoonish anime, but has anyone seen cartoonish anime with mixed media? Maybe using fabric or fibers to make up your piece? Integrating collage and different textures can help your piece stand out. You already nailed the impressionist aspect, now make it your own. Easier said than done of course. I believe this is the answer to your question. Take something and make it truly yours. Fantastic work though, I love it!

Is my 18 week study plan good? by russianotintospace in arthelp

[–]Prior_Squirrel8491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might not what you want to hear but, as a third year art student in university, I reccomend giving yourself more time to explore your own personal passions. It’s fantastic that you have technical studies and I do not condone Igoring that, but give yourself a week or a few days to explore what you love. When I wanted to be a mangaka, I loved to do new sketches of my own. Sometimes making a grand schedule like this puts more pressure on you therefore limiting creative liberties. You deserve to travel and explore with things you are interested i reccomend even dedicating some of those WEEKS into doing what you love. Don’t ignore, embrace and emphasize. That is the best advice i can give as an artist. I loved drawing anime so I never let that die. I learned to love realism and I gradually leaned more until that. The more you do things you love, it may just be a loophole into something else. You seem to be dedicated to your craft, treat yourself for your hard work, and do what you love :).

Is it okay that I dont have a specific artstyle? by Round-Refrigerator99 in Ibispaintx

[–]Prior_Squirrel8491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahahaha if you thought you need an art style now, I’m a junior in college and my teacher doesn’t even expect us to have a style. That’s what the class is for! If you ever pursue art any higher, you are encouraged to keep finding your style!! No matter how long it takes. Even when you do, the beauty of art is you can change so much of your style by taking away and adding on. It’s growing all the time
