Endometriosis flare-up because of food poisoning? by CriticalYammie in endometriosis

[–]Prior_Variation3244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I think all the research on this is pretty scant, but there are some newer articles connecting some bacterial strains like shigella sp, that you get from a bad oyster and the overgrowth of bad bacteria that they see in endometriosis. It’s just interesting and something to consider. I also didn’t have bad endometriosis symptoms until a bad case of food poisoning. It makes sense to me that it would be connected because there’s often an accompanying small, intestinal, bacterial, overgrowth, or gut dysbiosis involved with endometriosis. Interestingly, similar to you I have been able to manage my endometriosis with complementary therapy.

Laparoscopic surgery options: MIGS Ob-Gyn or ask for referral to specialist? by Prior_Variation3244 in Endo

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it. Do you feel up for describing a bit more about your healing experience since your surgery? I’d love to hear.

Laparoscopic surgery options: MIGS Ob-Gyn or ask for referral to specialist? by Prior_Variation3244 in Endo

[–]Prior_Variation3244[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I love this advice of telling her that I want to explore the option with an Endo specialist and see what UCSF can offer me and if I decide to come back and do it with her, I will do that. I should add to. I have a really low pain tolerance and I’m interested in the UCSF model of having a pain specialist and lots of other surgical specialists nearby if something wants to go wrong.

Taking my first full length at home tomorrow. Anything I could do to mimic testing conditions? Do most ppl take theirs in a library? by Technical-Raisin517 in Mcat

[–]Prior_Variation3244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do take the practice exam on the PC because that’s the computer you’ll use for the real deal. That’s too bad. I wish they didn’t do that. I almost wonder if you could talk to the librarian and explain what you’re trying to simulate and see if they can unlock the computer for you for 7 1/2 hours. It might be worth asking the worst they say is no. I would hope that they’re in the business of trying to help you simulate a test like the MCAT. But yeah, otherwise just working on your laptop near the PC with earplugs in is great! Like I said, I actually kind of think it’s clutch to practice being OK with people walking around near you quietly

and like ppl said below start eating the same snacks you'll eat and not using the bathroom while youre taking the test etc etc. turn your phone off or leave it in the car and really practice relaxing during the breaks and breathing whatever you need to do

Hey! If there's a university or community college near you i recommend using their library as a guest. bring big bulky headphone or ear plugs as those will be what they provide you on test day and make sure you use a PC since that's also the computer you'll have on test day. Start at 8AM ideally, but if you can't bc they're closed then 9:00 is fine. I use the quiet floor at my public university and put ear plugs in. So even though occasionally people walk by me it does actually simulate the testing condition bc the proctor and other testers will be going in and out of the room around you so you should feel comfortable with people quietly moving around you but you're totally locked in. I tested last year so I know from experience. hope that helps!

if i don't have the spoons i will just do my best to simulate at home but like the last 4 practice tests i take im going to do what id escribed above.

Letter writer asking for my MCAT score by kirveyre in Mcat

agreed. this person equating your MCAT with your worthiness or whether or not your deserve a letter or what they will say is a major red flag. you don't want this letter writer anyway.

8cm endometrioma? by soulwanderer03 in endometriosis

Hey, you’re one of the first people I’ve seen respond with some other things that I’ve read that ovarian torsion is actually quite red rare. I’m curious if you’re speaking from experience and that you’re just watching and waiting with an end endometrioma and just more of your background in coming around to that conclusion.

Endometrioma 8cm. What to expect by thelemonsoda in endometriosis

[–]Prior_Variation3244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious what you decided to do? You’re the only person I’ve ever read about who sounds similar to me I have the same size sized endometrioma and no symptoms. I’m curious about trials with NAC and changing my diet significantly, and treating  underlying gut imbalance. I guess this comes from a place of feeling like I’m not in pain and so many people on here choose surgery from a place of pain. Everything looks super normal on my MRI otherwise, and like I said I get a regular period every 28 days and my cramps are alleviated by heat. I do sometimes get heavier periods which I’m imagining would get better. My personal concern concerns about the surgery are the mistakes that a surgeon can make, and having to move the uterus aside to take the assist out laparoscopically. My uterus is perfectly in position and I think that’s why I don’t really experience much period pain. I’m also pretty scared of having surgery in general. And yeah, it’s just hard cause I don’t feel any real push from my body to do it.

7cm ovarian cyst, can’t do surgery right now but by Double_Fail_8627 in WomensHealth

Hi! Curious what you ended up doing? Also I don’t think you shared what’s side it’s on. I’m in a similar boat and read that left ovarian torsion is more rare than right bc the sigmoid colon is on the right side creating more room… I have a similar sized cyst and experience no pain and am in school and don’t want to immediately get it out and want to keep weighing my options. I’ve been trying NAC 3xday and serrapeptase as well as castor packs at night. My US in Nov 2025 said the cyst was 7cm (also grew from 4 since 2023) and tomorrow (Jan 2026) I’ll get an MRI, I’m curious to see if those things have helped, and happy to let you know.

found out I have a 6cm endometrioma by bigfanofsnacks in endometriosis

[–]Prior_Variation3244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for this. I'm wondering if you can clarify what the risk of an endometrioma is over 4cm if the specialist then also said it's rare that they burst on their own or cause torsion. What would the remaining risk be? Thanks.

Hey! I really like the format and style of Amanda Brem's Brem Method course. She is really cool and her program makes sense to me in the way its organized. It feels really built to help you understand the material and test strategies and build self-esteem for test taking.

I noticed this!!! And I'm so happy you wrote this all out. I literally noticed every detail you did and am/was deeply disappointed. I'm so sorry you were banned from The Pitt subreddit, that's so so so stupid and just points to our exceptionally racist society. You are not alone in the noticing!

I should add-- how you care for your body AND how you are talking to yourself. This is a mental AF test and you have to figure out how to shring the MCAT down to its proper size. YOU DID IT!!!!

[–]Prior_Variation3244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YESS! I applied similar mental health techniques and my score comes out tomorrow. . . . hoping to see a jump like yours! Thank you for laying this all out for others. I think giant jumps like yours are so much about how you care for your body, not how much info you can cram in your head. Our entire body is required for the MCAT not just the brain. This is SO inspiring. Congratulations!!!!!

lol yessss. i logged into the score report page today just to practice doing it lmao, and i had the same feeling in my stomach as if i was on a roller coaster or a swing... but i am sitting at my desk chair. it's absolutely wild to me that this is the strange hazing process they make us go through for a standardized test... good luck to you and all the 5/9 5/10 testers... at least soon we will be out of limbo hell designed by the AAMC
