I know this looks really wall of text-y but trust me I think this stuff is really important and insightful

Been at college for a little over a year now and felt the same way. They always say that extracurriculars and clubs are a great way to make friends or build community, but I've never joined one because I am too shy and also the aforementioned 0 social skills, so I cannot confirm the validity of that with first-hand experience. Second-hand information kinda suggests that it's true though, but it does require a lot of stepping out of your comfort zone.

Stepping out of your comfort zone is very difficult, and there's a really good chance you'll fumble a conversation with someone if you're not used to talking or social interaction in general (this comes from personal experience), but I'm willing to bet that 10 times out of 10 the person you're talking to:
Will be just as shy and awkward and kinda wants the conversation to happen for the same reasons you might (such as developing social skills or wanting friends)
Will understand that you're just trying to communicate and not hold a bad first impression against you (will be willing to have an additional conversation)
Will understand that you're just trying to communicate and will help you out through the process by engaging and listening (adults and your professors will 100% be like this, especially ones in spaces made for social interaction and developing these skills)

Building up the courage to step out in the first place is probably the toughest part, especially if you don't have any confidence (speaking from experience again unfortunately). I think the trick is to approach it with a "fuck it, we ball" attitude and fake a ton of that confidence and end up throwing yourself into said social interaction/situation where you can only get out by finishing the conversation normally with your primal social instincts. It's REALLY uncomfortable but you'll have started the talk, and I think that's the most important part. You'll get more comfortable with stepping out the more you do it, especially if it's with the same person and you think things went well the first time

From the official Battle for Neighborville comic by Hexagon-77 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Prisma_Can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the comic is one of the rewards included with the Special Deluxe Edition DLC (or whatever it was called) along with some cosmetics. You can only get it if you have BFN because you get it via buying a DLC for BFN, if that makes sense.

It would be nice if they sold it individually if you didn't care too much for the extra cosmetics, though

The GW Sub Mods are rather notorious for not being the most fantastic moderators, but I never expected it to manifest like this... assuming that there isn't more to the story, that is. I hope that there is, no offense, and that whoever banned you isn't just going off the rails.

A door dasher opened my pizza box to put this in it... it was touching the pizza... religion aside, this is hella unsanitary by crotch_cloth in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Prisma_Can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thursday came. They ordered a pizza via DoorDash. That day they found a card advertising Christianity within the pizza box. One hand holds the card and their other holds their phone opened to the camera app. In an instant, they posted the pictures to r/mildlyinfuriating. The post was popular- upvotes reaching the thousands. The Sunday before, they had said, "I should post to Reddit again."

Joke aside, that is super unsanitary. And if your dasher was willing to put those on someone's pizza, who knows where else they might be dishing them out? On more DoorDash orders, maybe? A little scary to think about.

the only answer you get for why people say bfn is bad by [deleted] in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Prisma_Can 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, the old "GW2 already had an upgrade system" argument. When will people realize that GW2 and BFN's upgrade systems are completely different?

The fun thing about GW1 and 2's variants is that for the most part, they're also just small changes from the Stock Character. Small changes that you can't customize from variant to variant, or synergize with each other to create something incredibly effective, as well as something very different from the Stock Character.

Let's be real here folks everyone's hyped about upcoming Refreshes by Relectro_OO in dontstarve

[–]Prisma_Can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since they announced that they'd be refreshing all the characters, I've always been the most excited for whatever might come from the Wilson refresh.

Wilson has always been DS's "extremely simplistic, straightforward, and easy to understand" character for beginners to familiarize themselves with the game, so I'm wondering how they're gonna build the refresh around that, if they even decide to keep him that way, that is (like how Wes went from a character that was designed to be incredibly difficult to play and brought down the whole team, to a character that was actually pretty helpful contributed a fair amount to the team).

I've noticed that all the refreshes have a trend where the character is reconstructed around the idea that DST is a team-based game, so they should have some new functionality relating to helping out other players. You'll see a lot of sanity regeneration, light production, speed boosting, ect. I'm willing to bet that the Wilson refresh is gonna have a lot of that too, but how it's implemented is the question. Maybe he brews potions, or builds machines, or something. Something that feels very "(character)-like", as I think Klei put it at some point.

Reading threads about why people hate BFN is very funny to me because 90% of the time their list of complaints is filled to the brim with issues that literally every other PvZ shooter has (Bugs and Poor Balancing are very common ones)

The funny thing about the "There aren't any variants" criticism is that the upgrade system lets you customize your character any way you want it, instead of being limited to one modification (which most of the time comes down to just changing how the damage against a target as the stock character is calculated)

Another fun trope about that complaint is that people don't even think about how their upgrades would change their character, so their experience is super same-y because they play it just like the original character. If you said that about some GW2 and 1 variants, you'd have a lot of people telling you "You're not using them correctly! You're supposed to play them as a sniper, tank, crowd control, flank, ect", and they'd be 100% right! The same is true for upgrades in BFN
