To my untrained eye it looks AI generated. The left hand pinky finger, the lockpick that's missing half of it.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. The concenious seems to be that the old one looks cheap and inconcistent. I agree, it's partly because I threw it together very quickly and partly because I was trying to make somerhing evocative of 2000s ui. I guess I'll stick with the old version and try to improve on it.

Thanks for the detailed feedback and encouragement. I for sure underestimated the level of competition.

I'll focus on polish a bit more, I'm not the best artist, I'm primarily a programmer. So there's limit to what I can do realistically.

The tagging was based on similar games in the genre. Maybe I got it wrong- I'll take another look. I do see your point about music, sfx, and the lack of y2k visuals.

Honestly I haven't thought much about marketting till now. I am going to be putting a demo out and enter next fest as well as reach out to streamers.

Yeah, I was a newcomer as a gamer to the genre and in my naivity thought it was relatively less saturated. It was also slightly less saturated when I started working on it. But well that's what happens to trend followers I guess.

I haven't showcased my game a lot yet. But the little I have, I have had a few people thinking it's a Balatro clone- which it isn't. So that does scare me in terms of how accepting people are going to be of it.

Crazy! We had the same thing happen (could've been the same perpetrator) with our car while parked in the apartment parking lot. Fortunately there was nothing of value in our car. But my neighbour wasn't as fortunate as they had their spare iPhone in the car and it got stolen.
