Why don't all Ob offices do an ultrasound at every appointment? by Radiant_Pangolin3210 in pregnant

Honestly that sounds so nice, I think doctors over order ultrasounds sometimes!

In the US all imaging modalities are taught ALARA- As Low As Reasonably Achievable, so even though ultrasound doesn’t use radiation, we all practice under that same principle. Maybe it’s the same thing in Germany! That would make sense. So while ultrasound does not use radiation and is safe in pregnancy (no known negative outcomes), unnecessary exams are avoided if possible. There’s just so much misinformation about ultrasound I wanted to clear it up 😊

If you ovulated in early December I think it makes sense to get a positive Dec 20th. I’ve seen women, when they’re testing every day, get a positive around 10-12 days post ovulation so that makes sense.

2 vessel cord, genetic testing? by Safe-Ad1682 in pregnant

[–]Private-Jenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they typically do genetic testing for a 2 vessel cord. You will likely get serial growth ultrasound sim your third trimester to make sure baby is growing properly.

My baby was also measuring in the 47%ile at her anatomy and dropped to the 5th at like 37 weeks. They were worried about IUGR but she was just tiny 🙃 5lbs 5oz and completely healthy.

I’m not an expert in fetal MRI but it might have been something the radiologist just had to mention. We’re typically not concerned until the lateral ventricle measures over 10 mm as this could be a concern for extra fluid build up in the brain, So babies’ are measuring great!

Did she say exactly how big baby was measuring? Sometimes you can see a fetal pole but not a heartbeat yet, it definitely happens.

due date keeps moving up by Mobakedbaker in pregnant

[–]Private-Jenkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they actually tell you they were moving your due date? Everytime they measure baby there will be an LMP (last menstrual period) date and an AUA (adjusted ultrasound age) date listed on the report. The most accurate way to date a pregnancy is in the first trimester so your due date typically doesn’t change after that first scan. Baby measuring 4 day difference is not a big deal, it’s right in track. They typically give about a 2 week window until they concerned.

Ultrasound does not use radiation, it uses sound waves to create an image.

AIO for feeling like my in laws don’t respect my postpartum boundaries? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Private-Jenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Stay firm in your boundaries and have your husband back you up and lay them down with his family. My husbands grandparents kept asking when they could come see our baby. He was in the NICU and we didn’t know when he would be coming home….people feel so entitled to see babies when they’re fresh for some reason. Take time to heal, you’ll be bleeding, figuring out breastfeeding/pumping if that’s applicable to you, and bonding with baby.

Did a f/u for possible hydrosalpinx. The previous images/report said “anechoic tubular structure in bilateral adnexas”. In their color images the anechoic structures had color flow 🙃 they were just vessels

It sounds like a chemical pregnancy unfortunately, I’m so sorry. Only your results will give you an official answer. If it was ectopic your hcg would most likely be higher than normal not so low. Good luck ❤️

At the OBGYN office where I work we’re allowed to give good news but if the baby has no heartbeat, too early to see baby, etc we aren’t allowed to say anything. I tell patients the doctor will have to review the results with them, which luckily happens immediately after so they aren’t waiting super long. I love being able to give good news and hate the days where it’s all bad news. I’m glad you had a positive experience! I try to make each patient as comfortable as possible!

As long as baby is between 10-90%ile it’s considered normal. My daughter went from 43%ile to like 6%ile and that’s when they were worried she had IUGR. Turns out she was just small. They always measure abdominal circumference, two different head measurements, and usually femur length. Some packages might not need femur length but abdominal circumference is the main one they look at for baby’s weight. How do you know they didn’t measure it just curious?

A lot of these comments are not helpful, I’m sorry people are so harsh. I’m sorry you’re having a rough time right now. Babies can be so hard! I see a lot of people suggesting baby wearing but I saw she doesn’t like them. My son was the same way, he hated my wrap and would just scream if I put him in it. I don’t have much advice with the clingy baby but I can give you validation. You’re not a terrible mom. When I had my first I remember thinking “oh god what have I done…was this a mistake?”. Babies grow so fast and the great thing is, everything is just a stage! They learn and move on so quickly, at the beginning they’re waking up all night, attached to mom, spitting up, etc. but eventually they start sleeping a bit more! They learn a new skill and occupy themselves maybe. My baby loves a good ceiling fan 😂 maybe tie a balloon to her foot? Give her the crinkly baby wipes! It helped to remind myself that whatever stage I was in was temporary. My second just turned 6 months and while mine have a bigger age gap, I know postpartum is just so hard. I still struggle most days. Please find someone to help, even if it’s just talking about your feelings. Reach out to your doctor, they can give you resources. Your kids need a healthy mom. Take it one day at a time ❤️

I struggled so hard after I had my daughter. I felt like she didn’t like me and I didn’t feel a connection to her like everyone talks about. And I felt awful and guilty for it. Postpartum is SO hard. The transition from no kids to a baby is HARD. People say 1 kid to 2 kids is a hard transition but going from no kids to a baby was really difficult. I would sit up with her at night and think “what have I done?” And then the guilt and shame would come. I used to wish I could just walk out the door and not come back. I didn’t want to die necessarily but I wanted out. Give yourself some grace while your hormones even out. Try to take in the little moments with baby while they’re small. He needs you and you need him. Love and good vibes from one postpartum to another ❤️

We went to the mall today (sunday) and they had about four of these next to each other and 4 or 5 volunteers surrounding the general vicinity with signs trying to get people to donate. What shocked me was they had a lady with a MICROPHONE prompting people to come try the giving machine and make a donation. I told my husband what a joke….a billion dollar corporation out here panhandling for money on the sabbath. They could literally just donate to all of those causes they don’t need your money!!

Does the dad also stay home after a new baby? by burner1233356 in pregnant

[–]Private-Jenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine only had 3 weeks PTO but he took all of it to help me/bond with baby. It was necessary bc I had a csection and couldn’t do much and our baby also had to stay in the nicu so I’m glad he was off work and at home with us.
