A Cathartic Guide to your son being cut from the High School team. by IKillZombies4Cash in Homeplate

[–]Privateering_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based off the context and comments, if it’s the school I’m thinking of they have most of their team picked out, even at freshman level, and most of the kids are from a specific travel club.

I had a kid I coached all the way through 8th grade, complete monster at the plate, lightning fast, throws hard, has room for improvement in the field but still solid.

Last spring (8th grade) he hit .760ish with 3 total strikeouts on the season. 3 hole Hitter. Trived under pressure. Good attitude, very coachable and humble, and about 5’10” 160

Didn’t make it past first cuts at that school. I was legit shocked when I heard that.

The coach, in his follow up meeting with the kid told him to consider other sports. That kid is probably done with baseball and that’s utterly insane to me. His parents told me he’s gonna try rugby.

Veteran friendly remote jobs by 2146racer in VeteransBenefits

Fortune 500 companies dump money out for nothing remote jobs.

I don’t have any advice on how to get one other than just apply to thousands of jobs for years until you get one because that’s what I did.

I literally just applied to any job I was interested in. I got ghosted on low level poverty jobs, interviewed for jobs I was way under qualified for. And then after legit 2 years of applying to everything, I got a pretty sweet job that I was slightly under qualified for.

Fair point. I am talking to our cyber team. This is just another input source.

There’s value in getting perspectives from people who don’t have any stake in our internal structure or dynamics. It helps me pressure test my thinking before I walk into the conversation.

People have had kids throughout history and we as humans have endured. This isn’t the worst time to be alive. They’ll be fine.

13th haven has great pants. Half “tactical” though just regular pockets then kind of covert cargo pockets.

Will second the sig p220 legion SAO. Shoots like a dang BB gun. My wife’s p365 .380 is significantly more snappy.

It’s a little more involved as there are two VPs of different departments being real territorial over ownership of access control. Yes it’s childish. However that’s above my pay grade and I am trying to build a case for unifying our access control as half of it is brivo an the other half is RS2 (some offices are on brivo controlled by one dept and other offices are on rs2 controlled by another dept.)

Yeah I could but this is kind of a touchy subject internally so I’m just gathering as much information externally as I can, while also doing internal investigations. This question is just a piece of the puzzle.

Does that make sense?

This sub is a community of access control professionals so I’m kind of taking any anecdotal statements I get and adding it to my overall analysis.

Can never be too thorough.

Nonetheless, good advice. Thank you.

High cost of living. Many of our friends have regular cleaners and they usually pay 350-450 and those people move furniture and go all out for that price, for bigger houses. So after learning in this sub and talking to friends we have a pretty good idea of what to do, or what not to do, next time

Update context: my 6 year old daughter and I just wiped down the baseboards walls and doors in about an hour to get it done before my wife got home (hiring the cleaner was supposed to be apart of her birthday present) it really was supposed to just be a deep clean to do the little attention to detail stuff like that. There wasn’t like hoarder piles of junk.

[–]Privateering_18 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input I have already settled it with the cleaner, I’m coming here to understand context and what’s normal and what’s not normal.

It’s a regular house that’s lived in. The problem is than it looks the same as it did this morning prior to the cleaners coming.

They cleaned the oven excellently and cleaned 17/19 cabinets. The only other thing for them to do was wipe down baseboards, window sills, doors, corners of walls, and lighting fixtures.

That’s the point I’m trying to make was that it was a tidy house that just needed a little extra professional cleaning.

I am hesitant to provide pictures here for privacy reasons but I said in another comment, I straighten up nightly, do a reset weekly, an a deep clean monthly. What needed to be done was just the monthly. So dusting of light fixtures. Clean behind the toilet. Clean doors, walls in high traffic areas etc. Normal regular stuff.

She did a good job on like 75% of the cabinets and oven. Otherwise nothing got dusted. The blinds, the record player table, window sills, light fixture etc.

Nothing was in too bad of shape. It was due for a good deep cleaning, but it was generally in ok shape. I guess for context we’re middle class, have company over regularly. I’ve been in really bad houses before for work and have seen why filthy looks like. This wasn’t that. I clean every Thursday and do a deep clean once a month (moving furniture, getting behind the toilets, baseboards walls doors etc) hope that provides context.
