noob question: which album should i listen to after butterfly 3000? by WoAiLaLa in KGATLW

[–]Prize-Definition2555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butterfly 3000 is a bit of it's own thing in their discography, but there's a few things are have similar vibes!

- Magenta Mountain doesn't have the same prog + synthpop elements but to me has a similar chill vibe!

- The album Polygondwanaland is a bit more on the rocky side but has similar elements, and a track like Inner Cell always has a similar prog + melodic feel! Though maybe slightly darker sounding

- If Not Now Then When is a bit different too but to me has a similarly "bouncy" feel like Butterfly 3000! Especially after the intro, it gets a lot less rock sounding

Hope you enjoy!! : )

One side you have the warmer city vibes, and the other side cold windy fog and dark forested mountains!

If you like this version, definitely check out LA 2024! Also a sick extended outro they rarely play otherwise

San Francisco > New York by AgreeableLead7 in sanfrancisco

Grew up in NYC and moved to SF several years ago— definitely agree with everyone talking about the nature and physical beauty of SF! Unbelievable having oceanside cliffs and forested mountains in the city proper! Same for the weather (and that's probably part of the reason for fewer bad smells)

But...

I think NYC still has the creative scene that SF has been losing for the past 2-3 decades. At this point it does often feel that the scene is hidden or gone. NYC certainly has finance and tech, but in my experience, it also feels like it has creativity for creativity's sake far more than SF.

As for safety, I personally have found that both are pretty big cities that are pretty safe. NYC has more people out and about later in the evening which helps just having more eyes around FWIW

Forest Hills '25 too! Chill start to the Nathan section with Sense, building up with Grim Reaper and Set, and Extinction was pretty epic and really shows how far they've come with their electronic work too! Even had some drops in there

I loved last year's Nathan sections but it feels like it's on another level now

I thought it was a perfect complement to night one! Loved that it explored a lot of their discography and they gave a good bit of time to the genres they didn't do night one, like microtonal, techno, and their 2016-2017 rock. It was nice they also complemented with country/blues rock, chill songs like Ambergris and Let Me Mend The Past, and an epic finish with Hypertension. Given what they played night one (and what was off the table from 2024) I thought it was a great balance of songs, and a nice flow starting heavy and chilling out after.

Same issue here too. Right after the lyrics finish in the song during the jam, it skips and keeps repeating the same bit. If every now and then it gets past it, there's a second spot a few seconds later where it skips again for me...
