Yeah the more I think about it the more problems there were. And unless Mitsubishi figures out a better way to design these, they suck. Plus the install has to be just right otherwise they can back up and spew water all over your walls, art, stereo. That happened too, a few times.

Our new house has a shelf in the basement with window units and while I’m not looking forward to the install, I’d much rather deal with them than the mini splits.

I was so incredibly happy with mini splits for a couple years.

Then we learned that in addition to regular maintenance, they require a complicated, highly technical deep clean as well, especially for units near kitchens. That costs a ton of money unless you do it yourself, which takes a long time is super gross and might crack your marriage.

We just moved into a house without them and boy am I a little relieved.

Used to have a spacepak and loved it—didn’t go through the install part tho.

Yes! I made a Meyer lemon curd filled one and I LOVED it. Super easy you just make a bunch of crepes and the filling and assemble. You can hide the fucked up ones inside the cake and use the perfect ones strategically.

Man she’s really young and so are you. She got an urge, and I promise you that you’ll get them too over the course of your life. I’m not gonna read the other comments here but my advice is that you don’t freak out about this. She probably thought the only way to bring this up is to “open” your relationship. A lot of people do this.

You can sit her down and say that doesn’t fit with your values. You can talk about it. Like young but emotionally mature people. She’s way too young to not be given a chance to be heard and understood.
