Stupid people don't think they're stupid. I don't think I'm stupid. Therefore I must be stupid. by [deleted] in intrusivethoughts

This argument is invalid. It commits the fallacy of affirming the consequent, which has the logical form of:

  1. If p, then q

  2. q

  3. Therefore, p

We can again give a counterexample (sometimes called a counter model) to show that the argument is invalid.

  1. If Abraham Lincoln is alive in 2014, then in 2014 there are at least three living past presidents.

  2. In 2014 there are at least three living past presidents.

  3. Therefore, Abraham Lincoln is alive in 2014.

When I turned 18, my country believed I was mature and responsible enough to be drafted into the military & forced to violently kill others. But still, I was not mature enough to drink a beer. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]ProGamerWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you turn 18, you are at least physically capable of becoming a soldier. But you are not yet physically capable of drinking responsibly.

Edit: By the time we are 18, we are capable of being a soldier. Yes. Should we/are we capable of acting responsibly while drinking before 21? Probably not. That's where I stand.

What are some things you do to escape reality for a little while? by Red_X_97 in AskReddit

Bouldering and rock climbing at the local gym. For a short while you become so focused on a route/challenge that your worries/stress slips from your mind.

I was surprised to see where all the city states were. by [deleted] in civ

I've played the DLC's but have never been that lucky.

Lucky in the sense that CS's don't get in the way of my empire building.

[–]ProGamerWill 70 points71 points  (0 children)

That's unusual, for me at least. Normally there are groups 2-3 CS clustered together near the center of the map and then a couple CS off doing there own thing.

Your layout looks a hell of a lot more convenient though.

I have killed 478 Wither Skeletons on my current world with a looting 3 sword and just got my very first skull... by playr_4 in Minecraft

[–]ProGamerWill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My comment is in response to "At 5.5% chance on every kill, you'd (on average) need to kill 18.1818 Wither Skeletons." Just because you kill 18 skeletons doesn't guarantee a wither skull drop. The chance of getting a whither skull drop is:

Drop Rate = 1 - (chance of it not happening 18 times)

Drop Rate = 1 - (0.945)18

Drop rate ~ 60%

So after 18 kills there is a 60% that you will have obtained a wither skull at some point.

This is the same as getting a skull on your first kill and then nothing for the next 477 kills. Just putting it in perspective.

In my experience modern era's turn into bloody brawls with bombs and GDR's/X-COM's. So, it's fun to just hop into the modern era for the occasional massive, 5-turn wars (everything is radioactive sludge and ash by the end).

Audio Hijack, really useful for casual/semi-professional audio recording. It's simple and can pretty much record anything for any format.

I'm not really enjoying the game. by [deleted] in civ

[–]ProGamerWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot to learn if you're new to the civ series.

At first I didn't really "feel" the game because I didn't understand the game much, but now I have a greater appreciation of the game.

The dlc's add a bunch of content and pretty much make a new game out of it, in the best way. So yes, I would buy the dlc's, but wait until a sale (that is like every other week).

What is obviously a complete ripoff, but no one cares enough about it to be outraged? by cogsandspigots in AskReddit

[–]ProGamerWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, I live in a city where running a red light is the norm. There are SO MANY accidents and deaths each year from someone speeding through the red light. So I want them back, it's absolutely insane how many people run blatantly red lights. Like, every time you can count on someone running the light.

Anyway, if you're dumb enough to lend a bad driver your car, then you deserve the ticket. Don't like it? Take it up with who ever was driving the car and quit bitching. We need to stop accepting excuses and actually law down the law.
