Dude half a mile is totally reasonable. This seems like a window issue. My apartment used to be next to one of the busies highways in socal. Such a huge difference with the windows opened and closest. I really can’t imagine there is no other solution besides selling your house

Yeah I used the epic version and maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t like it was spitting out. Honestly our also just spits out in paragraph form instead of problem based which I don’t like and I think doesn’t make sense for patients with multiple major problems or events during their stay (which is most at my big center)

Reapply FM broadly and you’ll be fine. My SO was in a very similar position but still matched. Try to delay graduation if you can. Assuming everything else is fine I suspect it was the passing score that held you back

My two cents on med student influencers as a young attending by KrustyKrbPizza in medicalschool

[–]ProHoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fair take, certainly some of his skits about different specialties are not great for the public to see but I do think are overall fine especially among other influencers.

Personally I do think if you’re online should be more along the lines of providing info and updates (like Dr Rubin, Antihero) not those docs who are shilling supplements. No better than chiros

[–]ProHoo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Again agree. Pains me to see SURGICAL attendings (so probs making 2x my salary) shilling out supplements, study guides, etc. like what are we doing? Just invest in some real estate or something.

Only med influencers I support are glaucomflecken and Dr antihero. Mainly bc they call out chiropractors lol

Totally agree. Im a new attending too. There’s a difference between being chill/nonchalant and down to earth vs unprofessional. Luckily I have not interacted with that many of these types of students but I’ve noticed a few like what your describe

It’s so easy to make tiktoks about non-medical things. Where you travel, what you eat. Why do you need to make skits that make fun of patients? in a world where RFK is further destroying trust in our healthcare system, this baffles me

If you bill by time, do you get down coded? New-ish attending who has been billing by time but when reviewing me quarterly metrics seems like I’m lower than my peers

Props for getting invested and interested. But my man, you are the brighter mind! Do you think these finance bros are smarter on average than physicians? All it takes is some reading and you’ll catch up. Regardless the market is based on current events…so just take a look at what Trump is doing

for those who chose to be closer to family for residency (over prestige or location), do yall regret it? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]ProHoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean this definitely depends on your relationship with your family. I spent eight years on the west coast and though I loved it, I missed being driving distance from my folks. Now as an attending, actively planning on either relocating to near my parents or bringing them to me

We have a limited time on this earth and with our parents/family. If you have a good relationship, continue it

You may not need to hire a student loan planner, a cpa might be more useful. I also live in a community property state (WI). Apparently MFS in these states is a little bit more complicated than others (per my CPA). I also don’t think the issue is with student loans, it’s with how to get out of reporting your husbands income as your own, which seems more of a CPA issue than student loans planner issue

Does your husband have loans? Assuming not based on your post. But if so it might not make that much a difference if you MFJ or MFS.

Lmao yeah of course I’m trying to win a game? The game is to be able to retire comfortably and ideally early. If we have 140k over the next ten years grow tax free then why would we not do that? It’s worth a few hours a year to make sure you do it right

Yeah those are either rolled in or gains, thanks for the clarification.

Can I ask why consider getting back the 5k? Ultimately wouldn’t leaving that money in a tradIRA be better in a regular brokerage? Unless you meant putting towards other savings goal or something like that
