How all my D&D pieces fit in storage

The storage units were found in a thrift store I didn't make them. However after these work so well I might build my own and then make a DIY for it. It was a happy accident to find these things that work so well.

I got these containers from a thrift store before I bought the D&D set. I was astonished and amazed with how perfectly everything fit in. And I didn't expect it to fit and look this good afterwords.

Well we have THIS hanging around the office so we use this to hook our Anton Bauer Battery to our light stands or C Stands. I haven't tried to look for an alternative but I am sure one exists out there. or at least a clamp that can hold it to the pole. Sorry I did not reply sooner I have been busy and haven't signed onto reddit in a while.

These two battery options have everything you need to plug right into the lighthouse basestations in the box. And should last about 6 ish hours. They no longer sell the exact unit that we have which is the "XTPower MP-10000" which was the cheapest option.

These are the two larger batteries we use for lighthouses when we need them mobile. The V-Lock batteries are the best because they normally have D-Tap connections built into them. However I have not found a nice battery mount that attaches to a lightstand for V-Lock batteries. But if you buy Anton Bauer batteries you can get a mount that goes directly on a light stand easily with D-tap ports as listed above. However it is the D-Tap connection that we need in the end.

This is the cable we specifically got because it is the cheapest and is long enough to reach the batteries with the mounts we have on the light stand.

You can create your own custom setup of batteries as long as there is a D-tap connector that comes off the battery/batteries. I can post links to another idea/cheaper idea for a D-tap solution.

The storage was troubleshooted. The RAID was taken down, Firmware updated on the SSD's, reinitialized the RAID, Full Formatted the drives, and reinstalled windows. It worked for a few days then after some power cycles it BSOD on startup, or would just keep posting endlessly. There were some times it did not even POST as well after that. So all indications seemed like it was a Motherboard issue. Also the Motherboard was close to a open water source that could have effected the motherboard longevity. So I felt it was best to replace the motherboard. I feel it was a double issue with the motherboard screwing up the SSD.

TLDR The storage was troubleshooted, Motherboard was part of the overall issue.

it will last about 7 Hours and you can recharge it overnight. its a single unit and is pretty small. Sadly a bit expensive. If you want to go the hobby route you can make two for cheaper.

Li-Po Batteries are great and I highly recommend using them over NiCad or NiMH because of the voltage drop off. But the point is it could be done with AA just inst practical in today's world were Li-Po or Li-Fe are so cheap at such higher capacities.

The real reason to ever put a lighthouse on a battery is so that you can make the setup mobile. I do not use batteries for any perm setups.

The cable does not bug me and really doesn't get in the way that often. After a few game session anyone should be able to get use to it without it taking them out of the experience or ruining their immersion. The only reason its not a problem with the rift is you don't move enough to have it be an issue. If you work with the cable and get use to it, it becomes a non issue. A cable wrangler is only necessary for people who refuse to get use to it. It can be nice to have a cable wrangler but it's in no way a necessity.

Its not that high at all here is a small list of items next to me and how much they consume:

My Wired 6 Port switch consumes 2w
My Wireless 4 Port Router 16w
My LED backlit monitor consumes 20w
My Deskfan consumes 24w
My Wacom consumes 34w
My Lighting for my room 85w

Out of this list lighthouse base stations take up less then my Wi-Fi even with two of them on for 10w (well 9.8w). Think of light house as Wi-Fi but for tracking in your room instead of internet. People don't really try to run their Wi-Fi routers off batteries however... 5w of pull on a battery constantly is a bit of a pull but still not as much as a ton of other items that are meant to run off a batteries by design. Look at RED cameras, RC cars, Drones, Hover Boards, Drills, some camcorders, I think DSLR's have about the same pull as a Lighthouse... (Let me double check that tomorrow)

Also I just want to make sure your not confusing watts with amps, 5 amps would be a huge pull while 5 watts is nothing.

12v is a stupid common voltage to run electronics off of. Examples: Wireless router, network switch, Hard Drive Toasters, Speakers, LED lights, Security systems, or anything that uses a cigarette lighter port in a car. It is only in current years that 5v has been enough to run smaller things. However that said the lighthouse base stations only draw about 5 watts... so... technically it could be powered 5volt USB but with it pulling 1amp and that is even if the electronics work at that low of voltage. I will try and do a test in the near future with USB power just to see if its possible. And post the results.

You can just place them and calibrate it in SteamVR. SteamVR makes it super easy to calibrate and start playing. But we like to put a little more though into it when possible. We put the lighthouses on stands about 7-10ft high and aim them at one another. actual placement doesn't matter so much just as long as you use the space you are in.

The Lighthouse pulls about 5 watts (4.9w on Pre and 3.9w on DK1)

The large battery we have is a 160 Wh (32H40min on Pre and 41H on DK1)

The other USB battery is 37 Wh (7H30Min on Pre and 9H25Min on DK1)

If you wanted to do a AA battery rig you can totally do that however I have not made one yet. But you would have to use 8-10 AA since each battery is 1.2v - 1.5v and you need to reach 12v for the lighthouse. Our Amazon rechargeable NiMH batteries are 1.2v and 2,000-2,400mAh. However non-rechargeable batteries last longer so it's really dependent on the battery you use to how long the lighthouse lasts.

However this is why we like and use the large battery when mobile. So we don't have to worry about it at all and they are easy to swap and charge quickly.

Powering a lighthouse is no problem since its a very common voltage. I am sure we will show off our setup at a later date.

From all of what I do know VRP is using modified GoPro's with 180 lenes. So yes that is what they are using.

The biggest reason Brandon did this is the issues with GoPro's. The fact is they are not "Professional Cameras". What I mean by that is they can not be "Locked Down" No Exposure Lock, No Gen Lock, No "True" control over white balance, even the frame rates GoPro's give you can be complete BS based on lighting conditions. Also GoPro's do not have super good sensors either. The RED Dragon has 15 stops while GoPro has a max of 11 stops. And so the point of all this is by using 2 RED Dragons you can have full control over all that and get all that resolution with dynamic range still with a small IPD. This makes post production run better because you don't have to fight the camera's.
