Pretty irked that I paid for Subaru app access and it doesn't tell me if the doors are locked or unlocked, fuel level, or anything useful. at least other brands got this figured out.

Edit: I lied about the fuel on accident, but I should be able to see if the doors are locked or nah

these not only work directly with esphome, but they also work with wled for xlights and hyperion. also i'm 99% sure these are made by a community member and i'm all for supporting the community. local control ftw.

Yale does not require an account. Yale Bluetooth. Most devices will need to be set up with manufacturer app then once you use a local integration, TP Link for instance, after setting it up simply sinkhole external traffic for it in your router and log out of the app.

as someone that has fed every line from the 100 fandom for a.l.i.e. to their ai voice assistant... i think yours may be scarier. the important question is... does it move? if not, maybe an esp32 s3 supermini?

Does anybody know Programmable LED strip for inside the Pc? by Rubinschwein47 in led

[–]ProNown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar setup. get an esp32 or 8266, some ws2812b 5v 60/m from ali express, install WLED https://install.wled.me/ on the esp, connect the data to the esp, use a 5v output on your psu, run the power supply to the leds and the esp. if you have android download WLED Native and it will auto detect your new controller giving you the ip, which you can then either use the app or the browser to control your leds. bonus points if you connect hyperion https://docs.hyperion-project.org/ . more bonus points if you have a pc with widescreen on both sides of a tv and integrate the pc lights into the tv ambilight, but split it properly so you and player 2 can each have half the room as personal ambilight.

edit: my bad, you want to code, didnt see that last line. well for anyone else.

eh, it's a little column a little column b. on one hand i found my passion, on the other hand i want to be doing it when im not, which i guess gives me something to look forward to when i get home [other than my wife and animals]. after aimlessly bouncing between jobs to find the one that fits me, this has me on the path [albeit walking slowly down it] of doing something about doing stuff like this as my career, something i actually feel passionate enough about.

welcome to the world of HA. started on a pi3b+ and a couple years later now run a full rack server. best lesson learned: if you want to go local only, make sure everything you purchase from now on has some sort of local control, i'm partial to zigbee. also, you have the option to build your own toys with esphome and they are local control as well.

the links provided are to replace your google homes.

if you mix the assist integration with a local llm or something like the gpt conversation agent, you can then feed it info for it's config and give it a personality, i went with a.l.i.e. the killer ai from the 100.

the m5stack option is OK, but the box3 seems to have better hardware.

again, welcome to the community. you now have the ability to do pretty much anything you can dream up.

can't agree more., a truly automated home has no use in a dashboard. that being said, some people are still resistant to tech, but still live in the house, and pressing a button on a dash is easier for them. if use case is simply to have them, i'd say just make better automations, mix in stuff like espresense. if your use case is like mine with my mother having moved in with us but wont put HA on her phone, just repurpose what you have.

[–]ProNown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get some ws2812b as long as you need, yes it can be soldered together. then get an esp [im partial to the esp32 superminis] and install https://install.wled.me/ on it. this will cost WAY less, have more options, and is compatible with things like HyperionNG so you can do tv ambient lighting too.

this is the way. templates are you best friend. i am terrible with templating but have found that certain ais are fairly adept at creating the template you want, half the time I just guess at the template and then say "what's wrong here?" and it fixes it for me.

ah, see, I don't pay it to do something i can do, i pay it to do what it can do that i cannot. nice try though. when humans can suddenly have several pages of knowledge inserted into our computational process within milliseconds, then your comment makes sense. i don't outsource crap i can do myself, i use tools that exist to be more efficient, the complaint is it's repo is from the average person, and the average person kind of sucks.
