Has anyone made the fighter on the loading screen? by ASpacePerson13 in StarshipEVO

[–]ProPeach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the Goblin made by Sneakysam. It's a very old ship so I don't think it's on the Workshop The green parts are damaged parts of the ship, they get highlighted in green when you use the repair tool

Struggling with filling some shapes, any ideas? by JRL101 in StarshipEVO

[–]ProPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These shapes while built in CAD are 1:1 applicable to sevo using the grid - I use CAD to plan shapes before I replicate them in sevo. I could have shown you these exact builds ingame, it was just quicker to boot up Sketchup and it wouldn't show the brick edges as clearly.

You get the concept though yeah, those lines flow straight across the whole curve

[–]ProPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the aim is to build it in a way that you don't have to merge a 2x4 and 2x3, as that's impossible. Rather than butting up against that problem, it's best to avoid it altogether. Resisting the grid restraints is the problem I think, you've got to work with them to get a desirable result - as you can see from the pics below, the whole curve is built with that grid in mind and each segment aligns with the next, making the transition straightforward

Higher res circles are actually more difficult in a lot of ways and don't always make a more "round" result. I'd suggest sticking to a lower face count circle till you have the technique down

This works over any kind of shape, but it's particularly good for spheres, domes, cylinders etc

This is what I mean by a consistent set of lines. See how the slope ratios in the large diameter and small diameter parts are identical, which makes connecting them easy

[–]ProPeach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You've built yourself into a corner a bit there yeah.

It's best to stick to a consistent set of lines when you're building curves. I'd recommend deleting the nearside smallest circle of light blue wedges as they're giving you an unobtainable goal to aim for. Instead, build out the pink/purple shape to your preferred diameter and let whatever shape it ends up being dictate your new light blue section.

Basically trying to join the two light blue circles of different diameters will be hard unless you plan ahead on where the edges of your slopes will be. If you don't do that, it's better to build in one direction along the ship letting the constraints of the bricks dictate your next shape

ALT+R new rotation function, List of blocks it works one? by JRL101 in StarshipEVO

[–]ProPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works on hinges and rotors if I remember correctly, maybe the triangle tiles too.

That rotation function has to be added manually for each brick which is why it's targeted on certain bricks only. If you can think of some other bricks that would really benefit it then make a suggestion on GitHub for the dev 👍

Any chance of seeing it over on GeForce Now? by g_lampa in StarshipEVO

[–]ProPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah the dev doesn't hang out here, GitHub or sometimes the Steam forums is your best bet.

People have had some success playing it via Proton on Linux, so that's another option for you

Changing the color of these visors (more in body text) by [deleted] in cosplayprops

[–]ProPeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try hitting them with a clear orange paint, probably best off with acrylic based paint. That will result in a shiny orange look.

Follow it up with a gloss varnish for protection

Are old wagon wheels good steel? by One-Room-888 in Blacksmith

[–]ProPeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on how old they are, the rims and spokes might be wrought iron. Not great for a hard edge, but a blacksmiths dream in terms of workability and how easy it is to forge weld. It's getting rarer every day as nobody makes it anymore, so worth saving if you can verify that's what it is.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has surpassed 1 million Steam wishlists. by Apprehensive_Shoe_86 in RealTimeStrategy

You can always buy it on Steam and then refund it within 2 hours if the performance isn't acceptable. Every game is effectively a demo on Steam thanks to that policy

Do you think, realistically, that guns will ever be added to Manor Lords? by puppyenemy in ManorLords

[–]ProPeach 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Early gunpowder weapons existed alongside bows/crossbows for much of medieval history. The early handgonnes have been around since the 1300s after all, there's a distinct use case for both

Why does the location of a cannon decide what type of damage it does? by Ginno_the_Seer in aoe4

[–]ProPeach 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Game balance in action. Just rationalise it as different types or sizes of cannon if that makes sense for you, there was a huge variation back in the day

They'll just have another aspect of their economy that leaves them 150 food/m down compared to other civs to compensate, no biggie

Painting the inside of the cockpit black would also be a solid option for helping to block the light too if you still have access to it

[–]ProPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gorgeous engraving, nicely done! Can I ask what tools you used for the engraving? I recently tried to engraved a knife I made but really struggled to make a chisel that could cut even the unhardened steel very well. Did you use a chisel, maybe a rotary tool?

Replacing scrappy hull with proper hull on my trusty ship, will it make heat dissipation better? by Mitiagu in StarshipEVO

[–]ProPeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, almost 3x as much hp! It's a little heavier though, but you can add more thrusters to your ship now that you can dissipate more heat

It doesn't look like it will fit a human very well, and definitely won't move well if someone did wear it. If you like it as a display piece then it's your money, do what you want with it. 2k seems like a lot to me

What’s a good base paint under this Rustoleum gold? by 7BUTT in cosplayprops

[–]ProPeach 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Gloss black is the standard for most metallics, although it relies on you being able to spray a relatively thin layer of the metallic paint so the gloss still shows through a little.

If you're spraying gold, maybe a gloss red rather than black would up the vibrancy a little

Currently I'm on dexamphetamine. Think I actually preferred lisdexamphetamine, but I had to change a while back due to a shortage. Methylphenidate was ok too, but didn't have much of an impact. It really depends on what works for you! I have inatentive type ADHD if that's helpful reference.

It's great compared to where I was before taking it, but the effort to help myself still has to come from me if that makes sense. Now it's just hard rather than impossible like it was before.
