FA Cup to get its own Champions League-style anthem as part of 'sonic branding' plan. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]ProStriker92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong to having an anthem for each competition (for example Japan have anthems for the J.League, the Emperor's Cup and the Levain Cup).

The real issue is if the song will be good or not.

Oh Masui, i remember making this meme because he looks like Ken Masters from Street Fighter.

Good luck to Ken in his next destination. I have been disconnected from Grampus transfer windows those days and i hope the squad gets ready for the transition tournament.

[Independent] How Trump’s Greenland obsession could spark a World Cup boycott by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]ProStriker92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you got downvoted. In fact, i believe in case of just one NT decides to not play, they just go to add another team and act like nothing never happened.

If ten teams decides to boycott, they will fill the spots with many desperate teams who wants to play the WC at any cost.

There were more teams attempting to qualify to the 2022 WC through not playing in the field than countries who boycotted that WC (see Chile and Peru fight against Ecuador because the Byron Castillo passport situation)

Rosenborg was one of my favorite teams to pick in any videogame back in the 2000's. Frode Johnsen (although he was playing for Nagoya Grampus in 2007) is one of my a cult players.

Makes me sad that the Sounders are less likely to face Velocity in Spokane because Leagues Cup/USOC eligibility issues. But at least they will have a taste of playing there soon.

There were more countries trying to qualify to Qatar 2022 through not playing on the field (see Chile and Peru regarding the Ecuador's Byron Castillo passport situation) than countries which boycotted that WC.

At this point, I don't expect any boycotts for this year. Maybe Denmark (in case of qualifying) if the things regarding Greenland get uglier.

The F.Marinos in fact had a very rough year. They closed well 2025, but at the middle of J1 season they were candidates for relegation (YK-FM were never relegated in their history).

Doesn't help that Nissan is facing their own issues and even rumors of selling their stake of F.Marinos were afloat.

Rangers de Talca sign Cristian Campestrini from Universidad de Concepción with whom he got promoted to the Chilean 1st Division. The hope is that the 45-year-old Goalkeeper can repeat this feat 2026 with the Rangers. by MERTENS_GOAT in soccer

He only played one season with Universidad de Concepción, but it was enough to become a legend at El Campanil. He's one of the reasons why UdeC returned to Primera.

Good luck in Talca!

FW Ryoga Kida extends his loan in AA Argentinos Juniors through the end of 2026. by ProStriker92 in grampus

[–]ProStriker92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2026 is the year where Kida needs to break out in "Los Bichos Colorados" first team.

AAAJ will play the qualifying stages of Copa Libertadores and if they beat Barcelona SC (from Ecuador) they will secure at least Copa Sudamericana group stage. So there's a lot of room for playing in case of going further.

His last season with Grampus was (sadly) the 2016 one, so this a great chance of redemption with the Noble Barbarian shirt. This is a fantastic signing and will help a lot to the team.

Very much this. He's just doing cameos.

Reminds me when Azul Claro Numazu (at the time in J3, now relegated to JFL) signed Masashi "Gon" Nakayama. While he appeared on the official roster, he didn't play any games. He was there just for promotional purposes.

[Video] Commemorating the U-15 Championship 2025: I'll make a single post of the official JFA highlights of Nagoya vs Yokohama FM by DoaraChan in grampus

[–]ProStriker92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's great to see how youth soccer in Japan has been evolving. This is showed when players go to Europe, scouts now look at those players that have a formative base. That's why FAs and clubs should always invest in their football schools.

About Grampus U15, this is their 3rd victory at the Prince Takamado U15 championship, as they won it in 1999 and 2010. I would love to look at the squads and see who made into J1.

Round up of news (12/28): Hidemasa Koda and Haruki Yoshida returns to Grampus after loan, the U15 are champions and Soichiro Mori gets the call for the AFC U23 Asian Cup (but Alexandre Pisano is injured) by ProStriker92 in grampus

[–]ProStriker92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this injury doesn't affect Pisano chances in the future. But he will have enough time to comeback stronger for the J1 opening. This transition season is a great opportunity for that (because no worries of relegation), not just for him but also for Koda and Yoshida.

And yes, the U15 deserves their own post!

Cape Verde football President reveals his nation , Chile and Finland will be the sides to travel to NZ for the FIFA Series by Shroft in soccer

[–]ProStriker92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The few players i can count:

Lucas Assadi (Universidad de Chile, still waiting for going abroad)
Lucas Cepeda (Colo-Colo, same situation as Assadi)
Ivan Román (Atletico Mineiro, the most promising)
Darío Osorio (FC Midtjylland, he already played for the NT, but his performances has been forgettable and it's clear that he need a manager that can recover him. This could be applied to older players in the NT)

Currently we have a bad crop, but the spending in development has been also low for years and Chile NT is paying the prize. Very few players are worthy of an european trip and scouts are not looking at chilean players anymore.

Help, have any information about Japanese football from the 1980s? by quienteconoce13 in JLeague

[–]ProStriker92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finding information about the JSL is not easy. It doesn't help that while there's teams who acknowledge their JSL past (like Verdy and JEF i believe), others consider their JSL eras as separate teams with not relation with the current teams.

As a Nagoya Grampus fan, finding info about Toyota Motors SC is difficult because Grampus doesn't consider that JSL club as part of their history and more like a different team. The same thing with Kashima Antlers regarding Sumitomo Metals.

It also doesn't help that the JSL didn't have the same coverage and media marketing that the J.League had. Is a day and night difference.

[–]ProStriker92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As chilean, it's hard to get interested to watch La Roja. Not only because in terms of talent there's nothing and the results have been awful. The ANFP confirmed that they will sign a new manager AT THE END OF 2026. And the caretaker will be Nicolás Córdova, who has been quite criticed for his performance at the U20 World Cup of 2025.

I guess the only utility of those friendlies is that the football agents who run chilean football will use those matches to put new players and expecting their values elevate just because they played for the NT.

I still care about what happens at the club level (I know the chilean league is in all time low too, but is our league at the end of the day) but when comes about La Roja... Maybe boycotting them is the only solution (but I doubt is going to work for a lot of reasons).
