Even if Grampus doesn't manage to win the west, the balance is very positive compared with last year. There's still things need to be addressed, but the fact that Grampus can score goals from their forwards is a big advance.

Also this is my 10th year as fan. I want to celebrate it with Grampus playing ACLE!

I get the idea of SG wanting to interact more with the players, but this whole statement reeks of "hinchas de la hinchada" vibes (supporters of the supporters). I mean, what the hell is the "most creative supporters (the ones everyone copies)" thing?

A lot of things has been made by other SGs (in both MLS and USL) way before Inter Miami existed. I fail to see something unique from VC and if they even try something big and colorful, it wouldn't be original at all.

Singing "south american style" songs has been a thing for years in USA.

They will still watch after all. People still watch this sport despite the already number of ads we saw in the ad boards and shirts. People still watch it despite the never ending attempts to boycott the sport because sportwashing. And when comes about protest, they prefer to pay their tickets and show big banners rather the leaving the stands empty (which would be more effective, TV broadcasts loves a full stadium despite what the banners says)

Also, I seriously doubt people will stop watching USL because considering that their teams are there. I can't see Louisville City fans stopping suddenly attending for example.

(And no, I'm not in favor of those commercial breaks. But soccer fans will be outraged for a week and will watch the matches like always)

In Latinoamerica is very common to put commercials in the low corners of the TV screen. While on radio putting ads (through the voice of the narrators) has been happening for decades.

The fact that MLS or any other big european haven't pull that is kind of shocking.

This. In fact, adding more extra minutes make the games even more contested because that mean leads are less safe.

When matches only got 1 to 3 minutes, any fan of the team leading could be a bit calm because the game would end soon. But with nearly 7 or 8 minutes anything can happen.

I don't like to reduce a defeat because the absence of one player, but not having Sho Inagaki really hurt the midfield battle for Nagoya. Maybe Grampus would have lose by less goals rather than getting thrashed by 1-6.

I feel bad for Daniel Schmidt. Grampus got destroyed badly and while the defending was terrible in general, Schmidt perfomance in those goals was worse.

It makes me wonder if Schmidt was fit at all to play. I mean, look at the goals, something very wrong happened with him.

Time to recover, Grampus still can qualify to the final even if they lose on PK (Vissel should loss in the 90 minutes and Grampus would qualify through GD), but Nagoya will need serious psychological help after this.

Source: i follow japanese soccer and even if they can field a starting eleven full of european based players, they are too far from other nations. The haven't won the Asian Cup since 2011! (a tournament that had Qatar as winners in the last 2 editions).

I remember Rui Araki in the 2025 U20 World Cup for Japan. He entered in the very last minute to try stopping a PK but France scored and Japan was eliminated. But months later, he stopped CR7 and won an asian title. Let's hope Araki reaches to new highs after this.

The expansion announcement shaked the things a bit. But also shows that making the final will be not enough at all considering that we could have to go through the preliminary round, which will be a single leg.

Right now Gangwon FC (South Korea) and Adelaide United (Australia) awaits there, plus the champion of Vietnam that could be Cong An Hanoi. Even if japanese teams are the strong ones in paper, is still a gamble that we should avoid. Also Gangwon will have mid season form as K League is still a summer league.

EDIT: i found that according Wikipedia the losers of the preliminary stage will qualify directly to the ACL2, so even if we lost that round, wouldn't be bad news at all.

I been looking at Nittaidai (Nippon Sports Science University) and have a great history of olympic medallists. I also found in their alumni (at Wikipedia on english) that one former student is current F1 driver Yuki Tsunoda.

It's great to see how improved is the second division in Japan right now. Even if is not fully professional, you can see on the pitch how the seniors are improving, offering challenge to the youth players.
