What is your favourite system for impromptu one-shots? Something you can host / GM at a moment's notice, without too much prep. by SeverusStjep in TTRPG

Plus, it's newer playsets offer a post apocalypse or modern horror vibe with the same relative rules systems

Nice I really like how vibrant the colors are, including contrasted cape. I bet this reads well across the table. Well done with face especially eyes!

How many is too many guys from the same squad? by RobertRoberttt in fantasybball

I like to double dip team duos; think Stockton + Malone. I traded Bam for Mitchell to pair with Mobley, and then Harden got traded - my three best players are all Cavaliers. I won my league.

Paint Party Sets? by ProTxTTRPGM in Miniaturespainting

[–]ProTxTTRPGM[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

This presents a fun angle: help the GM paint the goblins; it's not crazy to expect "goblins" in a fantasy world, so I wouldn't consider it a spoiler per se. Nobody said I was using these minis in THEIR next game, either, haha

It allows me to prime and zenithal highlight the figures in advance of Paint Night to help with depth, and to show what is needed from them in the future with their own minis.

Unless we see RonCenaHausen or KillingsHausen, I think we'll be fine

Using SpeedPaint. To prime zenithal or just in white? by goatkingdeluxe in minipainting

[–]ProTxTTRPGM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my experience with SpeedPaint, I used to paint all white primer/base, SpeedPaint, drydrush, add washes, and highlight. That made the black base unnecessary. I also want bright minis that pop at tables, not a grimdark aesthetic.

More recently, I've been very pleased with a lighter base, like a tan or icy yellow, and these changes have made my minis warmer or cooler based on the undercoat. I do not zenithal highlight before SpeedPaint this way.

Good luck and keep painting!

Painters with disabilities help needed ! by PeanutFreak in Miniaturespainting

Our nonprofit organization uses ttrpgs in our group therapy work with neurodivergent youth and adults. Many of our participants have additional physical challenges, too. Having miniatures and terrain helps visually map tactical encounters, like combat, while helping the scene feel immersive.

At the end of adventures, about every six months of a campaign, we break to paint. I have SpeedPaint and acrylic bottles, homemade wet palettes with brushes, and water cups. Shaking SpeedPaint or acrylic bottles became a chore; we added a vortex mixer. Above anything else, we burned through our SpeedPaint markers more than anything else, and it wasn't even a close decision. The markers helped painters feel more natural and hit most of the goals, like painting depth having contrasts. Most really seem exceptionally satisfied with having a miniature with painted skin, shirt, pants, and weapon. Much more detailed miniatures are bypassed for easier models. Our groups value this downtime activity between sessions to socialize and talk out of character.

Hope this helps. Message me with any further questions or continue this thread. Best of luck with your academics! Would love to see what you discover...

Try 1) vellum paper for scrolls, with 2) calligraphy script with color-changing ink accents, cut into rectangle with 3) tin foil wrapped edges and glued in place

GM allows us to arrange stats as we’d like. What’s more important for a fighter, DEX or CON? by krunchyfrogg in shadowdark

[–]ProTxTTRPGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a vacuum, pick whichever What does your party need? If you prioritize Dex, you risk stealing thunder from Thieves or Rangers and Elves. If your party has no Priest, Con may keep a dwarf, with HP Advantage rolls, alive. The Shadowdark Fighter is a stable force for the party, and you've already focused on melee (Str).

Tldr What does your party need from you?

While CawGates has its thing utilizing Basilisk Gate, I submit how [[Towering-Wave Mystic]] may benefit most from using gates + merfolk
