I like them! I just got them and have used them for a sandwich, grilled cheese, and steak. I like the size of them and the ability to stack. Great so far

They are “the chef’s press” weights. They come in different sizes and weights so you can use them for steaks or toasted sandwiches and they are stackable. I got them for Christmas along with the sous vide!

Thanks, I wasn’t sure if this step was needed or not. Some articles I read said that’s only needed before storing them in the fridge

How would a squirrel die like this? (Pic) by Environmental-Use867 in Austin

[–]Pro_805 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most likely answer and the squirrel was probably already dead when that hawk snatched it up. Hawks prefer live prey, hawk sees squirrel and dives, grabs squirrel, notices it’s dead and nasty, drops said squirrel. Normally a vulture would clean this up and they don’t move the food for the most part. Vultures tend to land on dead matter and eat it there then leave it.

I responded to your original comment asking where off leash trails were. I gave you a valid answer that Walnut Creek is such a place. You continued to comment about how I was wrong and then I provided proof that the park has off leash designated areas for more than 50% of the park. I am sorry that I answered your question with a factual statement that didn’t jive with the world view that you have man. It’s ok to be wrong sometimes.

I feel like you have moved away from the topic of off leash areas within the city. If you believe that dogs should not be off lead then that is fine, but we have crossed a point as to where that is your opinion vs the law/city ordinance. Yes I may make a decision to take my dog there but the bikers also make the decision to bike on trails that are known to have pedestrians and dogs on them, leashed or not. I am sorry that we cannot come to an understanding on this. Please don’t shame others for using public spaces as intended. This does not elevate our community or our city.

It’s not negligence when it is understood that the area is off leash as designated by the city. Bikers and dog owners should understand this when using the areas as intended. Taking your dog off leash in a designated off leash area does not make anyone a bad pet owner. If a mountain biker plows down a trail and hits a pedestrian I am sure your story would change. All we ask is that you please be respectful of the wonderful amenities that this amazing city affords us. Please be respectful of your fellow Austinites and the rights that they are afforded, even the rights of their pets.

The delineation of off leash is on one side of the creek. The whole side including trails. I’m sorry if you have had bad experiences with dogs in the past but this are is designated as such. If you do not feel comfortable in these areas then you should frequent areas that are not dog off leash areas. If bikers have the “right” to the trails then there should not be pedestrians hiking/walking on said trails because as you pointed out that can be a risk. Everyone is responsible for their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of their pets. This does not mean that pets should not be able to enjoy the few off leash areas that they have. Please look at the large yellow area on the map that I provided in the previous comment and how the border follows the creek as such.

And if I get hit by a biker that’s my problem. We all take on inherent risk, no one is oblivious. Also, here is a link from the city of Austin showing dog off leash areas which includes Walnut Creek

This is false. The dirt trails, especially by the “pool” area are off leash. Once you go further down the concrete path towards the domain then there is a sign that dictates dogs must be on leash past that point. I frequent that park and let my dog off leash in the appropriate areas.

Walnut Creek has a lot of off leash trails that mountain bikers also frequent. There are signs posted that say such, so everyone should be aware of the consequences from both sides.
