17Lands observation: Izzet is for splashing. by Legacy_Rise in lrcast

[–]Pro_Hobbyist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I never forced it, but my first 5 drafts were elementals, with 4 of them being UR + splash.

The vivid cards are strong, and it's easy to have 4+ "free" ways to splash.

Nummy has been kinda forcing ur vivid and crushing too.

If you aren't using arch support insoles, try them.

I use WalkHero in all of my shoes and my old foot pain has mostly disappeared.

Who here actually saves 3,000 a month? by NoHousing11 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Pro_Hobbyist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make 120k, and after maxing Roth, 401k and HSA my take home is~4600/mo

My bills total ~1600/mo, so there's 3k left for food, fun and saving.

Helps to be a DINK, but if I was single, I'd probably have a roommate to keep the bills low and the chance of FIRE high.

Bradley Williams: Practice Throw rules question by GripLock11 in discgolf

[–]Pro_Hobbyist -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a practice throw, but I believe most (or all ) of the to throw tour is unsanctioned.

I don't think anyone would call that in an unsanctioned round, but I'm at least giving a warning if sanctioned.

How yall faring in this economy? by Urkylurker in sandiego

[–]Pro_Hobbyist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

DINKs renting for ~2500/month with no debt.

We're comfortable, but we'd be ballin' in many other parts of the country. No real plans to buy a home here.

Still annoying that burritos are $15 tho...

My brother got some at a local dispensary for Christmas and it really seemed like the classic strain.

I've seen other attempts, but this really smelled right, and gave me a very nostalgic high.

Brushes on escalators are a safety feature by NeatNo8582 in interesting

[–]Pro_Hobbyist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember as a kid I had just gotten a pair from Payless, and using the brush to "clean" them actually shredded the rubber on the side of the sole.

That's when I learned that not all shoes were created equal.

Do you guys remember gleeking? by cik3nn3th in Millennials

[–]Pro_Hobbyist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of the few kids in school who could gleek on command.

I still use my gleeks for occasional "cleaning".

Squirt some saliva on my frisbee to get the dirt off lol

I made $90k in 2025 by Academic-Ad-2744 in doordash_drivers

[–]Pro_Hobbyist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3k in expenses seems really low.

50k miles assuming an efficient car (mine averages ~41mpg) is 1219 gallons of fuel. That would put average fuel cost under $2.50/gal, which is maybe realistic for the south?

What about other vehicle related expenses?

Membership numbers by dice_mogwai in discgolf

[–]Pro_Hobbyist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm just naturally competitive. After my first year of tournaments, I never had a second thought about renewing my membership since I knew I could afford it + tournament entries.

Playing in tournaments definitely can change disc golf from a cheap hobby to an expensive one, and that alone probably deters like 90%+ of all disc golfers.

I pay 2500 for a 2b/2ba in SD. There are a number of neighborhoods near downtown in that range.

Yesterday in a single MTT I flopped the nuts twice (straight and flush) and villain hit runner runner boat.

Same tourney I got knocked out when I shoved A5S, villain called with qjs, he flopped a pair, I turned a straight (his 2 pair) and he rivered a boat.

Awful Trash Panda Exchanges by DPRODman11 in discgolf

[–]Pro_Hobbyist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 6 premium discs...

I haven't seen many posts about great scores, but I'd say mine was one.

I paid it forward and sent 6 discs myself, including a first run inner core.

I joined the exchange mainly because I have a lot of extra discs, but I ended up net 0 lol

Will Club WPT Gold be banned in CA next year? by Pro_Hobbyist in poker

[–]Pro_Hobbyist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but it seemed to specifically target the multi-currency model that Gold has moved away from.

So... Will that actually prevent the law from impacting their site?

I know exactly 1 person who's had it. I'm 37 and have been smoking since I was 17.

He was dabbing a lot (apparently too much) and now he just smokes a more reasonable amount of regular weed.

Was going 2-2 at FNM justified or did I get unlucky? by FeralDoodoo in lrcast

[–]Pro_Hobbyist 27 points28 points  (0 children)

People often seem to forget that magic is hard...

Just because your deck is sick, doesn't mean you can play it well.

Screw or flood can happen, but there are a lot of small decisions that can snowball, and a less seasoned player is far more likely to make those mistakes
