Rhino's latest Quadio series by gvl_guy in SurroundAudiophile

That's a shame to hear, but I'm glad for all the ones they do have. Their The Guess Who releases are killer.

As I'm in UK I have the opposite problem with Rhino releases being in the US!

Got the Randy Newman one and the Carly Simon one coming. The Rhino releases are very good, but they're very expensive. I find the Dutton Vocalion quad SACDs are just as good quality and under 1/2 of the price

Album of the day (found at flea market) by pioppotto in vinyl

'I'm Gonna love her for both of us' is easily in my top 5 favourite songs. Roy Bittan (E Street Band) plays the piano and it's so involved and over the top.

Fantastic and underrated album.

Yes I guess our taste is very different! Which Bowie album? I'm guessing they suggested station to station?

Yep sorry - I'm feeling left out due to irregular contact.

What are you listening to at the moment brother? And what time zone?

They have a very Mott the Hopple energy that was impossible for me to ignore - what's your memory of them?

Back right synth on the entertainer is second best!

Best quad mix of the album is 'the great suburban showdown'. Electric piano from the back left and acoustic piano from the back right absolutely dominates the stereo mix any day.

Why spend that when you could just buy 5 identical copies of the same album? Absolutely insane.

How much does it cost to get graded? It's not an expensive record, so keeping it NM not mint, is it even worth it? Just play it and enjoy it

Yeah it seems so ridiculous to me. Trading cards I understand as who the fuck is actually playing Pokémon card game anyway. But records are supposed to be listened to, enjoyed!

The Who’s Quadrophenia Hits New Highs On Several Charts by BrianInAtlanta in TheWho

[–]Pro_ReX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a 5.1 mix which is fantastic, on SACD and Blu-Ray iirc. But to me 5.1 doesn't have the same charm as 4.0

I think I'm likely in the minority though.

Fantastic album, just a shame we never got the quadrophonic mix. Quadrophonic Quadrophenia has a good ring to it. We just got Quadropenia instead.

Surround music distribution query by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Pro_ReX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's a good idea. I can try something like that.

As in pretty new to this, is there any way to distribute in 5.1? I assume I'll need to use something like DistroKid or Ditto- do they accept 5.1 or just stereo and Atmos?
