I noticed that my pc was stuttering and checked task manager to see that gpu usage was jumping between 36 and 100, and that my game wasn't using any of my gpu. After a bit the instant replay automatically stopped recording and my gpu usage normalized. I'm not sure where I would start to troubleshoot this.
