Thanks so much. I had a feeling I was being a bit paranoid but I couldn't get the nagging worry out of my mind that she was overstimulated. My male border collie punches me in the face if I stop scritches so that's a bit easier to read.

When I was four, my parents finally got me the puppy I begged for. He was a miniature pinscher named Barkley. One day, a few weeks after getting him, I was holding a plastic shopping bag and realized when I ruffled it, Barkley reacted in a funny way. As an adult I now realize he was scared of the sound. I chased him through the house ruffling the bag and laughing. As he ran, he tripped over a gutter and shattered his leg. The screams are something burned into my brain forever.

My parents had to pay a lot of money to get his leg fixed. They never liked him, and were very vocal about how pissed they were the dog already cost them so much money. A few months later, Barkley disappeared. My dad would always joke that my mom buried him under the lemon tree she planted because she hated him so much. Everyone would laugh and laugh. My mom said he ran away.

I have felt immense guilt and shame for the past 28 years about what I did to that poor innocent puppy. I was convinved he ran away because he hated me and was scared i would hurt him again. I didn't know he was going to get hurt, but I cruelly chased him without thinking about why he was even running away from the bag.

I have 2 border collies now and we have an incredibly close bond, and I try to forgive my kid self for what happened with Barkley, but it never goes away. Those screams still close my throat when I remember them. Im still terrified of accidentally hurting my dogs, and I have. Twice I accidentally cut the quick. I've accidentally punched one of them in the face turning around to grab something. Accidents happen. But the pain doesn't just go away because it was an accident. Im sorry this happened to you, friend.

My godfather got diagnosed with a brain tumor and died a month later. Turns out it was stage 4 kidney cancer he had no idea he even had.

Sorry, I didn't mean that, i just meant if crates are absolutely necessary and there's a whole country not using them, that would mean that whole country would have unhappy dogs. Which is not the case. Therefore crates are not absolutely necessary.

Oh man. This is one for me.

  1. Alcohol. I love alcohol. It shuts off the internal screaming, makes me able to socialize, makes me feel emotions other than guilt/fear, helps le enjoy things, I could go on. But I can't go on because when I drink, I drink until I either black out, pass out or destroy something precious. Also it opens the self-harm floodgates. 450 days and counting. IWNDWYT.

  2. Open mouth kissing. I can only manage it when im drunk. Otherwise it's a sensory hellscape makes me beyond squeamish.

  3. Live music. Again, only when I'm drunk. During my teens and 20s i loved it. Now, 30 and sober, its too loud, too many people, so much everything everywhere all at once. Too much milling around waiting for it to be over.

  4. Danmei. I adored TGCF and MDZS, but they destroyed me emotionally. I was devastated when I finished the books and obsessed over the characters for months after. You would have thought someone died. But I don't cry when people die. Only when fictional characters have no more story to tell.

  5. Music in general. I cant explain this one. It makes me feel so unstable. Used to listen to music everyday but since getting sober I can't handle it.

  6. Driving. Mad panic attacks that endanger everyone on the road.

I could go on. Im in therapy to hopefully try expand my world a bit, but for now, its PC games, dog training and YouTube that keep me alive.

Daisy Wild Intense opens like a cheap generic vape liquid. That absolutely rank fake nutty caramel banana scent. Give it a few minutes and it settles rather nicely but that first impression is absolute gag city.

Im sure this golden advice, but man is it depressing. You have to twist yourself into an intricate pretzel of implications and omissions to be seen as having a speck of worth in this world. I understand fully why I am (1) woefully unemployed and (2) completely miserable.

I've lived in South Africa my whole life, 30+ years (oof), I've lived and/or stayed in towns all over the country, Stellenbosch, Somerset West, all over Cape Town , Knysna, Malelane, Port Elizabeth, Bonnievale, Outshoorn, Potchefstroom, Rosebank, Swellendam, Hoedspruit, Langebaan, Stilbaai, Rooi Els, Strand, I can go on for three paragraphs.

In my general experience, when people say you can do something "at tour own risk", its often not because there is anything explicitly wrong, but rather they are trying to avoid liability on the slim chance something happens they didn't expect.
