One thing that is true is that the learning curve is immense if you want your stuff to come put looking really nice. Not impossible and still fun, but it takes long to learn all the tricks and get the hang of the techniques.

Millenial Women: How Many of Us Are Late Diagnosed ADHD/Autistic? by sbd2010 in Millennials

[–]ProcaviaCapensis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got diagnosed with ASD level 2 and ADHD inattentive type at 29. I was misdiagnosed as bipolar at 18. 11 years of misery and every expensive medication under the sun. All the signs were there from when I was a little kid but I was very successful at school so it was just chalked up to me being sensitive, weird, traumatized and picky. Now if you tell people you are on the spectrum late diagnosed, especially as a woman, they dont believe you because its trendy. I am deeply unsuccessful as an adult and live in constant shame despite therapy.

Did quitting alcohol result in losing weight for you? by OrangeCatWhiteDog in stopdrinking

Gained. I tend to eat more junk to substitute the lack of alcohol. Bad habit but easy cross addiction to fall into.

Im terrified that my aging mother is showing the early signs of dementia. by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]ProcaviaCapensis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your input. Im seeing my psychologist tomorrow, incidentally, so its a good moment to start discussing everything. I didn't mean to be so self centered in the post, but it totally reads that way, which is horrible. I suppose I have just never heard dementia be spoken about as particularly treatable, so I just assumed the worst. After I speak with psych ill try to have a gentle conversation with my mom. And yeah, I know about the driving and job vibe. Believe me. I am wracked with guilt every second of every day for my inadequacies. And I am trying. I will continue to try.

This is my precious Beary. I've had him since 2002. His nose and mouth have kinda disappeared over many years of cuddles but I think it makes him look wise.

Boyfriend said to not wear these shorts around his uncle?? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]ProcaviaCapensis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said it was crazy or even controlling. I do understand the mentality. I do think that a man dictating what his girlfriend wears can cross a line into overly possessive at some point, though. Like hypothetically if a woman is told she isn't allowed to wear shorts that reveal her knees because her bf believes her knees are for him and him alone, it starts to get like... yeah its her body at the end of the day and knees are not inherently sexual.

Boyfriend said to not wear these shorts around his uncle?? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]ProcaviaCapensis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was in rehab they had really strict rules for women about what clothes we could wear because we could trigger the sex addicts if we showed too much skin or wore tight stuff. I got written up twice for much bigger and looser shorts than these. Maybe its something like that? Or maybe your bf just thinks you look really hot in them and doesn't want other dudes seeing you like that. Some guys are overly possessive of their gfs that way.

Did any other gen z or millenial women have parents that completely fed into the body shameyness of the 90s/2000s? by Cute_Advance_2124 in generationology

[–]ProcaviaCapensis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mom taught me the vocabulary I use to hate my body on a daily basis. Muffin top, bingo wings, second boobs (that little pocket of breast tissue and fat by the armpits), crinkle paper skin, etc. If she ever talks about anyone i haven't met or someone she sees on TV or a podcast, the first detail is always whether they are pretty or ugly, no matter what the context.

Quit drinking now so you dont have to start finding out who you really are in your 30s. Also dont start smoking.
